I've been considering a short throw shifter because my stock shifter is very sloppy and I would like something shorter and smoother.
My transmission is a TR-3650. I figured this out from americanmuscle because the sticker outside my car door has a "K" under "TR".
As I search for short throw shifters that fit my transmission the product details always say something like: fits 01-04 models.. etc etc but doesn't say that it fits an 08 GT.
So even though it says that it fits my transmission but doesn't explicitly state that it fits 08 GTs does it mean it fits in my car?
Thanks.

I dont believe so, I dont think it would work, there are a ton of shifters available for your car though, I personally have the steeda Tri ax and I've been really happy with it so far, most people say the mgw and the pro 5.0 shifters are the best ones to get but my buddy has the pro 5.0 and I cant tell a single difference between mine and his.

I have a 2008 GT. I purchased the Hurst short throw-through Ford Racing Performance Parts. It looks good and works better. I had a Pro 5.0 on my 2003 Cobra-and although it had a great shifting action-it rattled on the tower, after a short time. If you get the Hurst-you will want to reuse the lower boot-that's the one you reuse from the stock setup. You have to peel it off, and put it over the tower-before you button everything up I also recommend using loctite on the main two allen head fasteners(that attach the chrome lever to the top of the tower-as they will loosen in time..) Good luck. Don't be scared..

My friend and I just put an MGW shifter into his 08 GT, very high quality and its amazing how many things you get with it. They include dynomat for sound deadenting, and on top of that a foam like pad to help as well and such. Its simply the best shifter kit on the market and the feel is VERY nice and its customizable from 15% to 50% shorter throw.
Its simply the best shifter on the market for your car.
Install is pretty darn easy~ just need a friend to make it go faster.

MGW is the best out there.
Do I have one, no. I'm cheap so I went with the Saleen shift block, it's cheap (depending where you get it from), takes the sloppyness out and reduces the throw by about 26%. I haven't missed 3rd gear yet.............

Spector V do you think you could give me a link to that package you were talking about?
And why do people always talk about missing gears? I've never missed a gear in my car unless i purposely skipped one and I find it kind of difficult to drop shift more than one gear. Just curious.

Oh and the reason I asked this in the first place is because the prices for the 04s and earlier models are much cheaper ha

The slop in the stock shifter can get bad enough that it won't just automatically go into 3rd gear...and will get hung up. This is a problem when racing or trying to shift quick as your foot only taps the clutch thinking everything is going to go smoothly in the shift....and any slight hesitation will affect the timing and cause you to grind 3rd gear. That is the most common "missed" gear scenario.
Also, this is what Spector is talking about....It's not a kit, it's just what they send when you order the shifter. Mustang Shift Handle
Also, it's more expensive because it is much different than a standard pre-05 shifter. Night and day different.

The other thing I neglected to add-the short OE spun aluminum knob-also gets hotter than hadeeze-sitting in the sun. It'll scorch your hand. So this is another reason to upgrade. Hurst comes with a nice acrylic knob-in black or white-same as they put in the Shelby cars/GT500s

I'm very seriously considering this now that I drove my friend's supercharged G35 with a short throw shifter in it. It was soo smooth and a blast to drive!
