I like the idea as well. Nothing like having that better cruising gear...

its all about what you want out of it and the gearing of it.
The ford spec 5th is .85 or so and 6th is .63~ (around there)
in your 5 speed final 5th gear is around .68 (whats that only .05 dif...) basically its not much difference in that respect, but a little lower 5th is not to bad overall
the viper/vette spec T-56 usually use .50 final drive that gives you much better gas mileage and lower rpms cruising oh why ford why didnt we get that
the 2010 gt500 FINALLY did in their 6 speed...

It's not always about the highest gears...sometimes it makes sense for the lower gearings...Without looking up the specs, the T56 could have a lower first gear ratio which would greatly help any out of the hole traction issues that may exist.

specially when swapping rear end gears... i know the viper ones start with a 2.6 or 2.9 (i've seen both... or at least somewhere in that range) and the t5 had 3.35 while the t45 had a 3.37... so if first is completely useless after going to 3.73 or 4.10 gears... that lower first gear will help a lot. i have a 2.73 rear end and first is already to short
EDIT: don't exactly quote me on the ratios listed, its just what i could find in a couple seconds

Appreciate all the ideas and help. I am still in Iraq for a few more months so I got time to think about which way I am going with it.

Is it a direct swap or is there some modifications that need to be done?

the t-56 has worse gears in first compared to a T-5 (at least the ones with 3.31 first) not sure about the others but it will hurt you out of the hole compared to others. I have no idea about the T-45 or HD version or 3650s gear ratios

going by your user name i would you have a 99 cobra... and i don't really know how this would go... you might just have to change some stuff to the 03/04 parts since they had a t56 in them. but honestly I don't really know, i do know on 64-98 you have to do some trimming and custom mounting though.
