T5 or T45?

3.8's come with a T5 tranny and the 4.6's come with a T45 tranny correct? What is the difference between the two?

i believe they are very similar seeing as they can share shifters but i think its prolly just the bnell housing. im not sure though.

im not sure which year but the GT(4.6) switched over to the T3650

It's just beefed up a bit more than the stock T5, so most shifters made for the T5 will work on your T45 (4.6L transmission). There are other differences between the T5 and T45, but for the most part they are very similar and the gear shift mount locations are in the exact same place. the early t-45s suck... more so than the t-5s no real difference other than the t-5 goes with 3.8/5.0 motors and bolts to the bellhousing outside the bellhousing instead of inside for ALOT EASIER ACCESS ford got stupid and made the t-45 bolt on the inside....

shifters are universal for both.
