Homemade nitrous?

I've been looking around, but I think I need further explaining before I try this.
I have a nitrous bottle(its actually made for paintball), and got bored and my mind started wondering. Can I make my own kit? Where would I find the solenoids and things like that? So I don't have to spend the money on a new kit and make it less conspicuous?
Any tips/advice are thanked.

i don't know anything about spray kits, but one question that comes to mind (since i've been paintballing before) what kind of pressure is put into the nos bottles compared to the co2 paintball bottles? do you have a compressed air tank or the metal co2 tanks? all i can really think of for right now.

NOS can easily blow up your engine if you don't know what your doing. DO NOT mess with NOS if you don't know what your going.

it has to run at a min. of 900psi. and a max of 1200psi

I have a 1,000PSI n2 tank, it is actually made for the gas.
Cobra, I was looking at a dry kit, nothing going into the block or anything, and if I understand it right, its a dry shot of n2 gas into the air intake tube? Or is it something more? |

I've never heard of a 1000 psi tank. They are either 3000 psi or 4500 psi with a regulater that puts that at about 800-1000 psi output. Made for compressed air. I would be very leary of putting together a kit myself, but if your able and know what your doing, i imagine it could be done. Though im not sure you would save much money. But i would get a nitrous bottle. Your compressed air tank isn't designed for a liquid. Not sure it would matter, but...

The tank is one of the cheaper components of a nitrous system.
I would recommend running a wet kit with a tune, it will be safer for both you and the car. If you can't afford to buy the right components for a nitrous kit, you can't afford to run nitrous.
If you insist on using that tank be sure you are using both an arm switch and a wot switch, if you aren't using both of those you will surely blow something up alot quicker.

a dry kit is the safest since it's only gas, a wet kit is fuel & gas and a malfunction can send the plenum through the hood. |

quick question, i heard some where that nitrous isn't actually flamable, and what it does is lower the air tempture A LOT, and resulting in basically a f/i setup were it just allows a lot more air because it is now basically freezing...
my question is, is this true?
also, i've been kinda thinking about it, if it was a just a project you wanted to do out of boredem to see if you could do it, i would use a lawn mower or somethin to try it on... that way you can get chores done faster and if you mess it up, well it didn't hurt your car

You can't just use any bottle, it has to be properly rated at a minimum of 3500psi, and it has to have a syphon tube installed in order to work properly.
You CAN build your own kit, and it's pretty easy to do, but kits are cheap and come with everything you need anyway. The expensive part will be the tuner and dyno tune. |
