so check this out. my buddy's first car was a 89 5o 5spd, the thing was insane stupid fast, i forget what was done but i kid you not it lifted the front tires a inch or two in front of the school. well anyways that was long ago, and he has had something like 10 different cars since then, from hondas(rsx-s, teg, crx) to trucks(sonoma/s10) to dsm's(1g awd, 95 talon awd auto).
so his newest venture is to get another stang. he really wants a 94-98 body style, and really wants a 5.0, cause its like his old 5.0. we went car hunting this weekend and came up short, most places wanted 9-10k for 94-95's with 100k+ on them and not the greatest of conditions. so we come home and get on autotrader and find this.
http://www.autotrader.com/dealers/id...r_id=176967347
now he likes everything but the tan interior. but he can live with it. most he wants to go for the time being on mods would be rear end, intake, exhaust, headers, pulleys, and some other little stuff. he wants to stay away from forced induction for the time being.
what do you guys think?

he should really just buy a 99+ if everyone is asking for around 10k...
but that looks good if he wants a 5.0... i guess he doesnt have much of a choice.

I dunno, watching all the 90's and up Mustangs on manual looks like it'd be a pain in the ass to reach the knob. The 05's look a bit nicer in reach.

that is a lot of money for a 94-95, the most expensive one ive seen around here is 5000, they are mainly in the 3000s

what's up guys, i'm eclipsegst's "buddy" lol.
I'm not really set on a 5.0, i just figured they would be priced a little lower (which is good ) than the 4.6's. I'm really only looking to spend 6-7k at most. The main problem is that I need to buy from a dealership because I won't have the cash to buy outright. I probably have about 3500-4000 cash and there isn't anything around here for that cheap (not 94-98 anyways). So i'll have to get something at a dealership so I can make payments on the rest. I don't want payments for along time, I will be paying it off within 2-3 months. I'm not too worried about the miles, since my 89 5.0 had 289k on the orignal motor before I finally blew it up. Another thing thats appealing is the convertible....
I'm thinking maybe I should save up a little more cash and try to find a cobra for around 6-7k? Like eclipsegst said, i'm not going to be modding this car very much, so hp isn't a big issue.
If I do end up buying this one, what are some things I should look out for before I purchase it? are there any problems with the 94-95 5.0's that I should look for?
Thanks for the advice guys!
Bryan

id still get a 99+ GT... you could probably get a modded v6 99+ that could beat the 5.0 for around the same price of 5-8k...

Could you take out a loan and pay a bank back instead of a dealer?? Youll probably even get a cheaper APR that way and then youd have a lot larger selection of cars to choose from. Dealers tend to charge a good portion more for cars than they should, its unfortunate

definately NOT getting a v6.....its just not the same....
Yea i'm not worried about speed, and the convert would be awesome for the cali summers...
Eh, I can't get a loan with a good APR anyways, my credit sucks ass. I used to sell cars, so I definately won't be paying full price..
Like i said, i'm pretty low on funds (3500-4000) and I want something I can pay off within a couple months, so a 99+ is pretty much out of the question because I don't want payments. I figure if i put 3500 on this car, i can pay it off within 2 months, which would be perfect...

its not so bad, but omg a 64-66 with a t-5 and a stock fox body shifter is PERFECT, maybe even a little too close in second. but it alot nicer than my two foxes

would he happen to want an 89 that needs a lot of work to look like new? and needs body work/a floor pan to be solid?
Drives down the road, goes and stops great..
ran high 13s about 4 months ago..
but needs a rocker panel/floor pan to be solid.. 1/4 has to be pulled out slightly to line it back up with the door properly, but its minimal..
Door is dinged to hell (byproduct of the hit.. ) needs fender, front bumper cover..
interior is dirty but passable if you're blind..
~30-40k miles on rebuilt t5, shifts great
$1200

I saw a pretty nice 95 GT for $6K a couple years ago with 75K miles
You should come to Iowa to get your car. You could get a good deal in the midwest, just fly out and drive it back
