maximum offset for a mustang?

i was looking at some wheels that have a 40 offset and wonder if that'd clear a standard stang brake system.

go to www.gefracing.com and see what the oem specs are for 17 by 8 gt rims thats will you will need to clear yoru brakes and cobra brakes.

hmm i saw a mustang in mm&ff magazine with the same wheels. but i'm not sure if it'd clear....

standard offset is between 24-26mm for a rwd vehicle.

40mm is usually for a fwd, so i need to ask around

i alwasy get the backspacing and offset mixed up... but if you are trying to put fwd wheels on your car DONT it will look VERY much out of place.. they will stick in MUCH to far.

well offset is how far in or out the mounting point is, dont think it has much to do with clearing the brakes but how far in or out the rim sits. FWD rims on a mustang would look horrid. The only time you would run into issues is when the mount gets so darn close to the brake it cant meet up with the rotor, in that case I see your point and FWD rims probably wont clear.
