I'm going to swap out my gears soon.I've spoken with an installer and he recommends Motive gears.I know Ford gears are the popular choice here,but just curious if anyone has tried the Motives,or heard of any pros and cons.

oem ford gears... dont get any others... you will break the tlok before you break the gears. Some brands can whine due to their design/makeup get ford and get em professionally installed by someone who also puts a warranty for gear whine and XXX mile warranty for install screw ups... if they whine when they put em in.. they didnt do em right.

get ford gears youll be fine with them. or get richmond gears which are stronger but they tend to whine even when installed correctly. |

Guys,I agree with you,it would be hard to do better than OEM Ford.Intersesting thing is...two professional installers I've talked to both prefer to use the Motives,and will back up the work with a warranty.I just want this done right the first time.I may ask if he'll consider using the Ford gears.

did they tell you how much it would cost for them to put them in, i plan on getting gears soon and im debatin at taking it in or tryin it myself. |

If you want it done RIGHT the first time then get an 8.8 rear end... if this is for the 96 then you will probably save a few bucks if not break even.. complete rear ends with out axles (reuse your stock ones) for 725 cant beat that... with 3.73s already installed and a tlok unit... i wish i had done that, but for 99 ups the axles are not long enough....

Both quotes were very high...500-600.These were from pro installers with warranty.
SpectorV,its for my 03,it has traction control wich I guess makes the install a little harder...?

500-600, wow, didn't think that high. well i guess its worth it with a professional and with a warranty. are these that hard to install or what? |
