I bought a 2004 V6 Mustang last October. It has the spoiler kit on it, with the fake hood scoop, 16" tires and mag wheels. I can't make it to the track to test it, but I was curious as to what it would do in the quarter mile. All the info I locate talks about the 2005 GT and it will be awhile before I can purchase a 2005 GT. Can anyone help me here and give me the ranges of times they've been able to come up with for the 2004 V6 in the quarter mile?

Welcome to the site. We have several people on the site with sixes, so there's a lot of knowledge floating around. Make yourself at home.

Thanks for the info. Sure wish I could get it somewhat souped up withOUT voiding the warranty. Any inexpensive ideas that would NOT void the warranty, or is it better to just let the dealer i purchased it at do the pep up in power?

You can start doing stuff, they can't void your warranty unless the parts you put on are proven to have caused the damage. e.g. if you put on exhaust, they can't try and blame a blow head gasket on the exhaust.

Now the dealer tells me that it's a 3.9 liter, NOT a 3.8. What's the difference? I can't find any info on the 3.9 liter. I know the 3.8 liter is supposed to have 193hp.

no real difference at all. Ford just used the crank or heads (I don't remember which) from the 3.9 freestar instead of the 3.8 windstar. There may be a few HP difference ( < 5 ) but nothing noticable. It was mostly done to save money and to use as a marketing point.

dude, if you're looking for cheap bolt-ons... first one, eBay cold air intake... should cost under $50, and is good for some ok cheap horsepower, and should give you a 'little' better miles per gallon. I'm getting 29.5-30.5 miles a gallon interstate now.... the car's only rated for 28 highway. If you want a list of my mods, just PM me, or look at my car-domain link in my sig, or my garage. I haven't done much expensive stuff yet. For power and gas mileage, just cold air intake (CAI) and dual exhaust... welcome to the site.. btw, dual exhaust with Magnapacks=the bomb
