I went to look at what was said to be a low mileage 03 sonic blue cobra. Looked GREAT from the pics, everything was nice.
I got there and BAM the trim was ALL faded and nasty... all of it. Around the snake in the front, the cowl, the side mirrors, the door trim, all worthless... and it had chips all over it from riding people's asses.....
so in conclusion please remember your trim needs love too

^^ That was my next question as well. I've never treated the metal trim before, only the plastic trim. Mine isn't horrible, but it could use some rejuvenation.

i use waterless car wash or interior detailer on it~ anything to protect it. For painted metal use something that protects paint.

Yeah I don't get it when people don't take care of their car, Mustang or not. Then they treat your car like shit and key it and what not. It is because of these people that I got in trouble today, but never mind that. So like SpectorV said PLEASE take care of your car and take pride in it.

Yah trim is one of those things...if it isn't taken care of, other things may not be taken care of as well - engine bay, trunk, underbody

Mother's Back to Black is what I have used. It sort of "rehydrates" the trim, puts a protective coating over the top. But you have to rub it in for a while or it streaks and looks uneven.

this, that way people like me can buy up cobras in said condition, spend a weekend, and bring their value up a few grand in the process, eliminating thousands of miles of negligance and mistreatings.
As for trim, my new favorite is Black Wow. Its not a dye like ForeverBlack, however it is a far better product than Back2Black. Its a moisturizer but you dont apply it like B2B, a single pea-sized dab can usually refresh the entire cowl on a SN95. You work it in and spread it around until its all uniform, and it does the rest. And it does not attract dust like B2B either, used to be i could wash my car, and a day later the trims are all dusty because the B2B was like a magnet. This stuff seems to repel dust, or at least not attract it as much as even the paint.
as for plastic chrome pieces, if they are messed up, they either need to be repainted or shitcanned for new ones.

There is only so much you can bring back. Chips and faded trim don't come back good but paint in general is more forgiving

chips no, unless you have a good body shop that will take the time to fill and level them all. or you can do like me, get in an an accident and have the insurance company pay for a freshly painted front end, void of 72k mi worth of dings, chips and nicks. Only cost $500 and an extra $30/mo...........
Swirls and scratches, anything smaller than you can catch a fingernail on can be removed/leveled with a machine like a PC 7424. if you can catch a fingernail on it, it aint coming out.
trim, if bad enough, should be re-dyed with Forever Black, and then kept up on. Though ive had great success with BlackWow. I just did a C5 vette this weekend and the cowl piece was light grey it was so dry/weathered. The owner said he never even noticed the cowl existed until it was black again.
