www.supersixmotorsports.com has something that i found very interesting and wouldnt mind getting installed in my car.
it is a stage 2 power pack. it includes ported upper/lower intakes, fully ported stage 2 cylinder heads w/ 1.86/1.45 valves, choice of SSM cams.
it claims 70hp for $1725 w/ $250 refundable core.
any opinions/comments on this particular product.
why do people supercharge instead of this?
dont superchargers add around 80-90hp? and this adds 70 n/a for almost half the price (given that supercharger and related accessories cost $3450)
is it worth it?
what else would i need to install this product that doesnt come with it?
i'm not that mechanically inclined, so how much do you think it would cost to install this?
thanks for any comments/suggestions

I would contact Mikael @ rpm-mustangs.com and ask him for a similiar setup. He is cheaper from what i have seen and can get you the same results.
Much much easier to install and cheaper to have installed.
Supercharger won't give you that much on a stock v6 engine. Your heads can only flow so much and your rods can only take so much before something gives.
Yes very much worth it whether you go with SuperSix or Rpm they will net you good gains. I just prefer to deal with Site Sponsors obviously It is who I purchased my 4.2l rotating assembly and cam from.
Check to make sure that they give you all the top end gaskets you will need for the swap. If not then I would def. consider going with Mikael because he can get you everything you need at once for around 1500-1600 dollars to do the install with.
If you have everything you will need gasket and part wise... 900-1000 dollars

thanks
so with it only being 1700 + 1000 install = 2700 total for this setup
but a supercharger and related accessories is more than that, isnt it? not even including the install.

This is also a good first step to power adders later on.
Both companies offer good products & service.
Talk to them both & decide from there.
I have used both!
You'll need new gaskets & head bolts or studs.

This setup allows your engine to "breath easier"
Your rotating assembly is still stock and the more power you throw at it the more stress you put on your bearings and rods/pistons.

In making this purchase you need to build it with a goal in mind.
There will be some differences between staying NA and laying the foundation for a power adder.
Discuss your goals for the car with them & they will help you get there.

a stock v6 can handle a bit more than 90 hp from a supercharger. my friend has a 2002 v6 with a 5 speed and less than 50000 miles and he has a procharger kit with 11 12 psi on it and it pulls 347 RWHP without having forged internals or upgraded heads or intakes. he just has a real good tune and never runs lean. he's had the set up for a little over a year now and has had no problems.

^lol @ brent hating them... i wouldn't call it that, he just has a business relationship with mikeal, that's all
honestly though, ssm and rpm offer similars products with similar gains, ssm is sometimes more costly, but not always. i'd say to talk with both of them and see what you can work out before coming to a decision. either way you go, you'll be able to put a spanking on a lightly modded 94-98 gt, maybe even a stock 99-04 gt... always a fun time
...
btw, almostn8, i've been wondering if you (ssm) could build me a sheetmetal upper with the inlet tube on the opposite side as the one on your website. it would be for an air to air intercooled single turbo circuit... would you care to pm me?

AlmostN8: Can you PM me with a total with everything (gaskets, bolts and everything I will need to install the Stage 2 Power pack) with shipping.
I live in Oslo, Norway and yes I know the shipping will be alot.
Mikael: Can you please send me a quote too? Roughly the same setup/hp as SSM.
I got a '95 auto with the occation spray of N2O (like 4-5 times a summer).

if you keep your 3.8 bottom end you should pick it up to around 230-240rwhp and tq (with a 5 speed) and stock your sitting at 165/190 (with a 5 speed)
you can get a turbo for around 3500 100% complete ready to bolt on minus a dyno tune of course which on 8-10 psi should push you up to around 300-325rwhp/tq with out to much hassel and its not really that bad on the motor if you keep it tuned and keep the psi around 8-10~ anything can happen, its just the risk you take, building the motor first is probably the best, then you can put a blower on it and REALLY get some nice power.

I am going to say either SSM or RPM will give you what you are looking for. They are both committed to giving you a quality product and backing it up. I have not done business with SSM but they have legions of satisified customers as does RPM. Both Mik and Tom know their business and both have really captured the V6 market with their products. Either choice will be a win in my book. My choice of getting stuff from Mik was one of convenience and talking to him several times on the phone. I say give both of them a call and be open minded. I also suggest writing down everything you are looking for as well as your expectations. Listen to them and do not skimp on the the valve train. This is typically the place most people try to skimp and usually the place that fails on modded engines.
Good luck with whoever you choose
