Well tonight I got to go out to the run pad and watch an F-15 do an engine run.. Even got some time in the rear seat and play with the throttles. It was the biggest thrill in the world...Having all that thrust and power at your fingertips. It was so awesome. So of course in my true fashion..lots of pics

it was awesome...you just felt your jaw rattling when standing outside, it was so much power
yep they are under the engines

but so was i....my new desktop background

now we were all withing 20 feet max from the exhaust so the 15 guys decided to have some fun

here is a video of the engines going...awesome vid
ENGINE RUN!!!!
also some more etching stuff
etching rounds (iirc 30mm) from the F-15 for some sheetmetal guys

sheetmetal used a lathe to make the tips of the rounds from aluminum. then made us the cool little bomb rack to make it easier to etch. gonna make me a couple nice racks for my display ones
the ones they gave me
ill get pics of me in the seat hopefully soon, on shane's camera so im waiting on him

at full afterburn what is keeping the plane from going forward? that thing must have some mighty hefty brembo's. you guys just put a block of wood in front of the tires and hope for the best?

haha, if I'm not mistaken, there are the wheel blocks, plane's brakes, and some hefty chains. I wasn't there though, I could be wrong.

The fifth one down (or up) is awesome. Anyone have stats on this plane? Top speed? Weight? Cost?

If you notice in the 4th one down (where I am laying under the plane) there is an arresting hook, it is down and chained to the ground. The only chocks are on the back of the tires, and that is to keep it from rolling back once they have the chain tightened up. You can feel when you go up to AB and back down the plane moving around when sitting inside the cockpit.
I cant guarentee the accuracy on all the information, and can not actually say if i do know to be honest, but here is a website but im pretty sure most of it is close to correct

Only one chain to keep a whole f-15 with full afterburners on from taking off? You know a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. I can't believe there is only one.

here is a good veiw of it
it is a stout chain, and it is on there good. they typically toss these chains after a couple months of use from what i understand.
