installing shocks and struts

so im gonna be installing shocks and struts pretty soon i just ordered them (tokicos) so i know how to install them but i just have a question. does the camber plate have to be unbolted, i would not think so but im not sure. i would think just taking off the top nut with a crow foot wrench and a screw driver to hold the shaft.
And yeah i have air tools and a lift that i can use.  |

this question is real simple, i dont think i will have to i just want to know, cause if i do i make sure to align my car right after (my old boss has an alignment rack i can use. its quite easy too) |

i was reading through past post and found out i was right the camber plate does not have to be taken off. 
i wonder if the front struts are gonna give me problems since i got 87-93 struts because they are shorter and i have a 1.5 inch drop. but the stang suspension guy said 87-93 front struts are what i need for my drop. |

just use an impact gun to get the nut off of the strut
as for using the fox stang struts, dont do it, the shocks and struts also limit your suspensions downward travel, and by using those shocks and struts, your more likely to have problems with dips in the road |

You don;t ahave to take them off and you also don;t have to hold the strut with a screwdriver if you loosen up the nut before you ttake the wieght off the front tires.
I did a whole write up with pictures that Brent never put in the how to section, thanks Brent.

To answer your question, a screwdriver won't do it. I had a hell of a time with my buddy's 2000 v6... we ended up having to buy a 20 dollar tool from Autozone or the like to finally get that front shock from rotating. (Not just the center part rotates, its the whole thing, and it's a PITA without the tool)
Don't forget to get your car aligned after the install, good luck.

um a screwdriver will do it. i used that when i installed the springs. the reason i use this method is bcause i always torque stuff on my car to specs. and a air gun does not torque to spec but by holding the shaft with a screw driver and using a crow foot wrench i can use the torque wrench to tighten it. thanks so the plates dont have to be unbolted cool that will save me some time. |

i was surprised to find that they came with hardware, im thinking of using my stock hardware, if the hard ware that comes with the tokicos are not grade 8. are they grade 8? i could not believe how hard it was to compress these as opposed to my stockers. |
