Hey guys,
I ran into this 2005 Mustang GT and wondered if it was a good deal. It has a Saleen supercharger, 4.10 rear end, Cold air intake, custom headers, lowered 1 1/2", 39 lb fuel injectors, JDM custom tune, and only 9800 miles. Gonna go take a look at it this Friday but wanted some input whether I am getting a good deal or not.

hmm well you really dont know much about it and when you buy a car with an aftermarket supercharger or so you MUST get it dynoed to ensure its safe BEFORE you buy it. You dont want to buy someone elses problems.
for 20k you could get into a 03/04 cobra mustang have have TONS of potential left on the table... on an 05-09 gt you run out of steam at 450-500rwhp (the limit) on an 03/04 cobra... thats just getting warmed up.

SpectorV-...and there's no bias toward the possible purchase of the pre owned S197-based on you owning a SN95?

I dont see any bank financing a car that is 6 to 7 years old with 50k miles on it. Sure, this is a 2005 but it only has 9800 miles which makes a big difference. I am not looking to turn it into a supercar like a Cobra. The other day this guy had a Terminator Cobra and wanted 29,000 for it. Thanks for the advice on the Dyno tip. If they want to sell it to me that bad, I will make them pay to have it dyno'ed or at least a Carfax and a very lively test drive.

Look at the current market on svtperformance.com for 03/04 cobras. Some guys/girls are still living in a dream thinking their 03/04 is worth 30k or near it... the only ones bringing that kind of money are rare color option versions with VERY low miles. I have seen some amazing 03/04s go for 22k. You can get a great one for between 19-24k. Some banks may loan, never hurts to ask.
If you dont want big hp/tq numbers then there is no real need as the 05+ gt gets good numbers but they run out of steam as you get much past 300rwhp/tq. Thats not a bad thing just something to consider if you ever plan on wanting more than that.
When I got mine I loved the power, now its in need of more (you get used to it). So if you are the type to want to mod it then the potential of the 03/04 wins me over vs 05+. Just something to think about. I almost got a GT back when I sold my 01 v6. Looking back that would have been a HUGE mistake.
The 05+ has many great advances over the old as crap fox platform. Its just some parts I like more on the pre 04's than the 05+'s. Also 03/04 cobras are FAR more rare and hold their value extremly well compared to any other late model mustang.
Until the market started to fall they were 25-30k for low mileage coupes and convertibles (a year ago)... so they held up very very well compared to other mustangs. Now they are around 19k on average, some as low as 15k in modest condition.
