i am getting a sct chip in the very near future and have a few questions.
my car shifts weird at WOT. 1st goes to 5500, 2nd goes to about 5200, and 3rd is like 5100 (3rd gear was on the dyno). so the chip can raise the rev limiter
w/ only cai, udp, and exhaust; how far should it be raised, if any? will it make all my gears shift at the same point?
my car already shifts harder than my friends 04 for some reason, but not enough to chirp 2nd, so will it still shift harder?
other and this, does it just make the engine overall perform better?

and thats safe on totally stock internals?
if so, then why does the stock computer make it shift out so soon?

Gas Milage...
Car manufacturers skimp on certain areas to make the car more streetable and economical. They realize that the car can handle more load, but leave it up to the end user to make the changes. Hence the creation of the aftermarket

And because the average owner wants a gentle smooth shifting car.

that makes sense. but if your going WOT anyway to make it go out that far, gas milage isnt your top concern
so overall, it would be a wise investment then?

A fairly stock auto can get the most benefit from a chip/flasher.

While you are at it, seriously consider a transmission cooler.
B&M makes a good one for about $50.

Hayden also makes a good trans cooler for about the same price...You can usually find them at your local AutoZone/Pep Boys/Strauss/Napa parts store.
I also suggest getting a B&M Shift Improver Kit

i saw those on summit racing's website but i'm not the most mechanically inclined so one shop said they would charge 80 bucks to get it installed but the guy i am getting my chip from is gonna install that so if he does it, i know he can do it cheaper than that.

Trans coolers aren't too difficult to install...All it takes is a lift/ramps and some tools. Oh....And some patience.

i just talked to the guy today about a sct chip and heres the one i'm getting. its a 4 program chip with a toggle switch type to toggle between all four programs. he said you can even change programs while driving. one program can be a "vallet" mode, which governs the car at a set rpms (you can set it a 3k if you want) as well as the top speed. another mode can be fuel economy (this will help me alot) and two other programs set by the guy who installs my chip. he said he would set it up and drive my car and then reset it for optimal performance for the "badass mode" -----(what i call it).
this 4 program chip is goin for 400 bucks, has anyone ever heard of this chip and does it sound like a good deal?

Sounds like a good deal to me. I have a SCT chip on my 02 auto, and it made a world of a difference. It's just a single burn though, and it'll eat some gas mileage if I stay on it, I get around 25 now highway/easy driving, 15 puching it everywhere/playing around. My rev limiter is now at 6200, and the 1-2 shift is arund 6k if I remember right, it'll break the rear end loose if I do it just right. I love it, and it's great to mess with ppl now, I can play.

I have K&N filter...don't laugh, cai is soon to come, and mach 1 true duals, you should feel a good gain with your mods. I've carried my stock engine over 6k several times..and she still runs fine, I'm sure if I do it enough it's not cool, but it's still cool to mess with. I see nothing with it being over 6k, just keep it around there.

well, my dynographs show that at 5200 (when it hit limiter in 3rd gear) i was still at peak hp and the torque was declining but has been declining since like 4500. so i hope the guy sets it at around 6k or so. but he said he would drive the car and see where to set and program each specific programs so it should be all good.
thanks
