Mach 460 Goin screwey....

Alright just bought a 98 gt from a local dealer (wont do it again) and noticed that only the tweeters in the doors and the rear work and nothing else. the car is wired for an additional amp so i dunno if he had un plugged the mach amps or what but it all looks plugged up and all... is there a way i can check and see if the amps are bad or a specific place i could look to see if power has been cut to the amps... point me in a direction...

Since troubleshooting could take awhile and it could be numerous things and ruling out, or figuring out exactly what the problem is could be painful post by post and I could type novels about the Mach 460 Sound System I'm just going to throw you some recent posts about the subject. It sounds as if you are having a common problem.

Try these out and see if it helps, see if it fixes the problems and let us know your results! IF you have more questions though feel free to ask!

alright will do. I have a local car audio shop that i may stop by and see what they say because i took the radio out and it has a hi/low separator or something like that. but i know NOTHING about car radios unfortunately but ill let yall know what the problem was

the mach system is an all or nothing it seems. You can wire up subs through it but some times they do it wrong and mess up the amps and such.

i have the same car as you and i was having trouble with that as well my buddy took the wires and rerouted them to a different amp from his car and it worked perfectly soo like spectorv said its an all or nothing.

so your amps were bad? a fella at the audio shop told me my power wires to my stock amps may be cut or somin... so i gotta trace those down

alright i just took the radio out to see if i was even getting power from it... the power plug between the two rear amps has two black and green and two black and white. the black and green wire coming out the back of my head unit has no power... im tryin to find the wiring diagrams to see what exactly that wire is to make sure its the right one... but agian i know almost zilch about radios and wiring but ima leaning towards thinking i have a bad head unit...

The HiLo Converter would have been for an aftermarket subs, if it is still connected you can test for an audio signal right there and that will tell you if there is an audio signal. If there is sound going in, but none out then your amp is bad.

You should also check all your fuses, even some that totally seem unrelated may be the cause. If the fuses are good then check the power at the amp. Using a test light or a multimeter test the power pins so as to make sure there is both a 12vDC signal at the amp as well as a good ground.

If you still get some audio then chances are your headunit is not bad.

Also the black/green should be a ground. Not to sure if the white/black is power though.

yea my amps were bad and these kinda things are a process of elimination thats how i look at it
