I just saw it about an hour ago. It was a pretty good movie. I read mostly positive reviews about it before seeing it, and I'd have to agree with them. The plot was fairly strong, the action was good but not overpowering (well maybe the gore/graphic stuff to some), and the acting was interesting, but still satisfying.
I also heard that if this movie does well, Peter Jackson will start filming the Halo movie (which I would love to see).

I read that this was directed by the guy that was supposed to do the Halo movie. They let him direct it because the Halo movie got put off due to some kind of conflict and they felt obligated to give him a shot anyways.
(I am a huge halo nerd and this needs to come out and I also need to read the last book)

it was definitely an interesting movie.. very unique. its a standalone movie at the moment... no sequels, prequels, wasnt a video game or a comic book or anything, but i think could definitely have a sequel.
it was a good movie, but not a classic. its more about people, discrimination, and society rather than robots and violence... and thats a good thing. although it was a badass movie and some of the action made transformers look like a pixar film. loved that laser gun lol.
one of the better science fiction movies of the year. the best? not sure. star trek was probably a better movie on the surface, but district 9 had a more meaningful story in my opinion. and i still havent seen moon yet. that looks pretty good too.

I'm wanting to see this one. Don't know if I'll make it to the theatre, or not. I could definitely see myself picking it up on Blizzle Gizzle whenever it gets released.

Yeah, they were supposed to have started filming it buy now, but financial conflict and other issues put it on the back-burner. Hopefully something will materialize within the next year...I think they could make a sweet movie...

personally on the halo part of the conversation i hope they don't make a movie, it will definitely not live up to my expectations and it will just disappoint me. If a movie is made, Bungie should direct it, and just do it all cgi with halo 3 or improved graphics so some director doesn't get artistic liberties to screw stuff up with.
I have not seen district 9 yet, I've been hearing its good though, looks good from what i've seen (previews mostly)

It's true to a point, I don't think it's possible to make a movie that'll be as good as the original piece (game, book, comic), but I think they could do a decent job with the right director, substantial funding, and decent actors. That 8 minute movie on youtube they made wasn't bad, looked pretty realistic.
Plus, I've heard that numerous scripts were written. Some were focused more on a group of marines, and the Master Chief had a supporting role, others included parts of the books along with the first game, so idk. could be interesting...

Yah I remember seeing a short film related to Distric 9. I wasn't going to see the movie if it was like the short film (I didn't like it at all), but it turned out to not be related.
