05. the 05s, IMO are uglier, but they are not a 25yr old chassis and frame. They have a better suspension, brakes, new type of engine, etc.

if you have the chance, get an 05 GT, manual please
Then immediately get an SCT tuner and get rid of the shift hangs, and transmission longevity tuning lol
being able to hop into third is a cool feeling indeed
Oh and get the dark red with bullitt wheels
you know you want to

it'll be a decent endevour to make up the 40 horsepower difference from 04 to 05.. and the 05 STARTS at 300... you don't have to build to that point.. so from a mere starting point standpoint, the 05 wins.... I'm with some guys here in that I think the 04 is nicer looking than that 05... but it's not like the 05 is dog ugly... (no offense to anyone's dog). Plus, chicks will probably dig an 05 more than the 04... even though that shouldn't influence you at all.... it's gonna come down to which one you like more...

My personal opinion is the 05 has too many new things on it, if I get one it will be an 06. A dealer told me the other day if you order one now you won't get it til the 06 are coming off the line anyhow. The only way you can get one is to special order it at this point, demand is too high, what the hey, at least you will get it the color you want and equipped the way you want it.

the 2005s are by far a better car, but the price is of course higher... so you just have to decide which way you want to go.

If I decided to get one I would probably go with the darker red of blue. I love black, but such a chore to keep looking good. Would still want black top and dark charcoal interior, with the brushed aluminum dash package. I am not big on subwoofers and such, so I would probably not go with the more expensive stereo package, bullitt type wheels most likely, still think they look good. Don't like the width of the wheels or the size of tire that comes on them now though. Still thinking on things, lol. Definitely leather interior again though.

i dont know which one i would go with, the diffrence in price is hugh, im sure u can still find some 04s out there new. i would prolly just go with that, they have to by dying to get them off the lots. and with the money you save you could build alot of hp.

i just bought my 02 gt in december w/ 23,700 miles on it for $13,995 verses approx. $25,000 for the 05. Price wise the 99+ will be a lot cheaper and w/ the extra cash you save, you can slap on a supercharger or stroke the engine and blow the 05's out of the water. Don't get me wrong I would love to have an 05 but it is the first year of a brand new car, so recalls would be very probable

If you are considering an 04 GT, get an 04 cobra. You probably won't find one new, but by golly there will be a lot of them available next year once the 07 comes out. You will prolly find one modded for about what a new 04 will run you. You can probably find one for the cost of a GT now.
Other than that, I would say wait till 06 and get an 06 mustang. Let the new platform iron out the bugs first and get a second year version.
So, 03/04 cobra first...06 GT second...and 04 GT third is my opinion.
