As some of you may know I host a charity car show and dragon run every year. This year I am having the two into the same weekend. This will be our 3rd annual car show and 2nd annual dragon run. The purpose of these shows is to raise money for JDRF(Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). Over the last two years we have raised a total of $6,748 dollars for JDRF. This year should be bigger and better than ever. The dates for the show are Sept 26th and 27th. The car show will be on Saturday and the dragon run on Sunday. The car show will be located in Clayton, GA which is just a short drive from both the south carolina and north carolina state lines. The actually location of the show is TBA as I am finalizing some details in the next few weeks. The Dragon Run will leave from Franklin, NC which is just about 15 minutes from Clayton, GA. There will also be a dinner and get together saturday night after the show for those that are staying in town for the dragon run. I will have information on host hotels for those who wish to stay over night. The car show will be a judged show but it will be very casual. We give away top 25 trophies as well as several best of awards. Entry to the car show is twenty dollars. There will also be food and drinks and live music. Entry to the dragon run will be a minimum 15 dollar donation. All the monies raised goes to JDRF. This is a great cause and I hope to see you there!!! For more info you can check out my website at Main Page or look us up on myspace at MySpace.com - Clayton,GA JDRF Gang - 23 - Male - CLAYTON, Georgia - www.myspace.com/claytongajdrfgang

We will be having the show at local civic center in there parking lots in downtown Clayton. Should be plenty of paved parking for over one hundread cars.
For those planning on coming and need directions the address is:
Rabun County Civic Center
25 Courthouse Square
Clayton, Ga 30525
Also due to hard economic times we have lowered the price of car entry to the show from 20$ to 15$.

Here is just a little taste of what you should see at the show. These pictures are from our cruise night last saturday. We had 54 cars and trucks and raised 718 dollars for JDRF. This is a good sign the show should be huge this year if all goes well!

For some reason I never put together what the Dragons Tail was. I went to the website and saw the pictures and it looks like a fun cruise. I am not sure if I can make it in Sept., but I do want to take a trip to cruise the dragon in the near future. October probably would but a nice time because of the fall colors.

I've had a couple of people asking about which hotel they should stay at. The Microtel in Franklin, NC is your best bet. While they don't offer us a group rate there pricing is still cheaper than near by hotels that did offer a group rate. They have rooms starting at 55 dollars a night. Within a one mile radius there is a Burger King, local BBQ place, local italian place, Subway, Little Ceasers, Mcdonalds, Bojangles, Huddle House, Sonic, Shoneys, Fatz, Pizza Hut, Dairy Queen, a local pizza place, a local steak place, Wendys, and Zaxbys. As well as a an arcade with go karts and mini-golf. This location should give everyone plenty to do at night. Also the motel is within a half mile of where we will leave out on sunday from for the dragon run and just 20 miles from the car show on saturday.
Here is the link to the motel.
