........of the 3.9
remember this thread Race Comin Up
well we finally raced today. the guy who has my laptop (i am using the main desktop computer) is loading a program on my laptop and has my camera so i couldnt videotape it. so heres what happened, but first, to clear up something from the previous thread. he told me it was a galant----no. i checked it out and it was a '92 eclipse. how he confused the two is beyond me.
anyway, i raced him from a dead stop. i went half throttle out the hole and then floored it when i got moving. from the stop he had me by a couple feet until i hit 3k, then from there to approx 75mph i put about 10 cars on him. another victim fell to the fury of the 3.9
*cliffnotes---- mustang-1; eclipse-0*

it had a dsm sticker that looked stock under the hood. there was a small sticker that said dsm behind the engine on the wall. the sticker had info like engine, tranny, and a couple other things that i couldnt read b/c it was so faded.
but i thought those cars had turbos or something on them. i am not too familiar with the lines of eclipses, but isnt a dsm seperate from a gs or gt.

thanks.
i am pretty sure that it was a 4cyl. he is all stock except for an exhuast system, which is earsplittingly (if thats even a word) annoying. he said that car is slightly slower than his 04 v6 chevy and i put almost the same when i ran his truck.
anyway, mustang-1; eclipse-0 <------------that score system kicks ass

92 eclipses were either 4 cylinder fwd, 4 cylinder turbo fwd, or 4 cylinder turbo awd. No v6's were available until 2000 or 2001, I forget when the new body style came out.

The 4 cylinder Turbo AWD cars are actually kinda fun to drive but I'd never own a non-turbo eclipse.

My roommate used to have a 93 4 banger fwd eclipse, non turbo, that thing had balls if you could ever get it to hook up. It'd easily take my car, which is sad, then again, the engine had just been rebuilt and all that good stuff...

a GSX or a talon TSI can be made pretty quick, but they break easy.

you beat a non turbo. congratulations. kias beat n/t eclipses. my cousin(who owns a gs) lost to my best freinds stock 89 crx with the d15 engine(whopping 95 crank hp). i thank you for killing another stupid ass n/t owner who prolly runs his mouth then makes the rest of the real dsm's look bad.
depends on what you think is pretty quick. i consider quick to be 14's, pretty quick to be 13's, fast to be 12's, pretty dam fast 11's, hella fucking fast 10's, and anything under is stupid retarded fast. most the dsm's i know are in the pretty quick to fast territory, but the pretty quick ones are only held back by their lack of understanding.
and yes, when youre making double the power than what the car was designed for, things break, especially when forced induction is involved.

I'd say a car running 12s is pretty quick.

Congrats! Even though it wasn't really a challenge for you, I hate those rice burners that sound like a bumble bee on crack. Way to keep the mustang flag flying.

not ever close lol. The only one that would run or beat a gt is the gst/gsx. The gs and rs aren't very fast at all. I raced my friends 95 rs eclipse with my stock 96 gt auto and after mid first he was nothing but a speck in my rearview.

DSM was a joint effort between Chrysler (star) and Mitsubishi (diamond). For a long time the 4 banger in the DSM cars was a version of the same 4 banger in the Neons, just with a different head. The cars are built in Normal, IL. The Eagle Talons and Dodge Stealths were the Chrysler spec DSM cars, where as the Eclipse and the 3000 were the Mitsu versions.
A few years back Chrysler got out of the DSM effort, about the time they merged with Mercedes. Since then Mitsu has been going down hill financially.
