I want to lower my 02 GT but I'm worried about tire rub. Which company would be the best for springs, that won't put me too low. I want to go with a 18x9 rim with the widest tire I can put on there. I would stay with the stock rim if there is a problem with tire rub with the 18's. Also, would a 17x 10.5 rim be too wide for a lowered stang? Just trying to keep my options open.

no, but 10.5" wide is as big as you will want to go. 9" wide is as large as you will want to go in fronts. You shouldn't have a problem as long as you don't lower over 1.5". Steeda makes good springs, as do Eibach. If you're going to lower it 1.5", you will probably need caster camber plates to help with alignment. If you lower 1"-1.25", with a good shop, you may not need caster camber plates. After lowering, you will need to get your car aligned though.

h&r super sports will lower you 1.5 inches an you wont rub with those rims, yes you need caster camber plates to get a proper alignment after.

I have never run the H&R spring, hear they are really good ones. I have run Steedas and Eibachs though, no problems with them. In fact right now I have Eibach 95 Cobra Rs on the front and 00 Cobra R Steedas on the back.

17 by 8 rims or 18 by 8 for that matter with the standard offset and backspacing will be fine for a 1.5 inch drop.

I would also highly recommend the H&R Super Sport Springs. I have them on my car and love them. They will give you a little less than a 1.5" drop, probably around 1.3". With them and Bilstein shocks and struts my car rides as smooth as it did with a stock suspension.
As far as wheels/tires, I'd do 18x9 up front with 275 tires and 18x10.5 in the back with 335s. The front may rub slightly at with the wheels fully locked but it is nothing major. The only thing you should have to worry about in the back is the exhaust, but that can be fixed by any exhaust shop very cheap if necessary.

All good comments so far.... but if you're really worried about tire rubbing up front with 18X9 rims and a drop, then you should have steering rack limiters installed. I believe both Roush and Saleen use these on their cars. It's a $2 part that is very easy to install. It will prevent the rubbing when the steering wheel is completely locked, and because of this reduces your turning radius slightly.

they increase your turning radius because your turn will be slightly bigger. but not by a big amount

rack limiters are a good idea if you feel worried, I just know where my limit is and I know when to stop turning. I pretty much have a full turn available with a 1.2 drop~

I have 17X9s with 275s, and no rubbing. It is dropped with Bilstein struts and shocks from an 03 Cobra. Springs in front are Eibach Cobra RS (95) and rear Steeda cobra Rs (00).
