Hi, My name is Jennie I own a 2004 Mustang convertible, it is fully stock with the exception of a MagnaFlow exhaust. I was interested in getting the car in shows, how ever with it being stock I was looking into a legitimate sponsor I live in Illinois and is willing to get the installation of the parts done on my part, and taking it to local shows. If any one knows anything about doing it the right way or has any info that can help me I would greatly appreciate it.

99% of the websites and such that will sponsor your car are worthless. I personally would just save up and do it myself as you are just asking for issues... and who wants ugly stupid looking stickers all over their car from sponsors?
The mustang is rather cheap to modify we can help you mod and stay in a budget and get good results.

As far as sponsors go they usually stick to the big wigs or magazine articles when they sponsor a vehicle by providing parts or some shops provide labor to have their name put out there. You would need to build your car and make a name for yourself before anyone would be interested in offering you freebies. You have to be able to offer them an outlet that they need. Frankly they don't need a guy going to local or regional shows with their name badges as it won't do them much good.

If you are looking at just local car shows and other types of "display" shows the advice I would give would be to make sure the car is spotless. A lot of shows will give out awards solely based on the accuracy of the car. Most shows will have different classes and a completely clean car is more often then not held higher then a shitty car with too much money dumped into it.
Buy some dress up kits which aren't expensive, take a spray can to some various parts if you want. For instance buy some chrome under hood caps and a chrome CAI and while you do the install clean up the install area and just go along making it super clean.

stay away from those scam sites that you pay to be come sponsored~ those are simply scams to get money out of you

Yah I agree with what Saleenfiend said. You're in Illinois, check around...you might find a local shop or retailer that is looking for a small time sponsoree rather than a big wig who might require more time and money. You never know...

The key is making sure the person giving you free stuff knows they will get their moneys worth... they have to feel that they will or they will not be interested. Some kid just driving up asking for free stuff wont cut it. You have to go in there with a plan, information etc etc on how them sponsoring you will help their business.
