I am putting in an MGW short shifter (thanks to those of you who helped me pick it) but i cant get past the second step!!! Those two 10mm bolts on the left of the shifter are stuck, and the top one is pretty stripped. What should i do?

How about a pic? There's a few bolts I could be thinking of. There should be the 4 bolts that hold the entire shifter assembly in and that's all you would need to remove the shifter. The two bolts directly on either side of the arm do not need to come out and I advise against it.
I'll try and take some pics tomorrow if you still can't get it.

They tell you to remove those so that you can get the boot off without damaging or having to cut it. If you are good and patient go ahead and leave the shifter handle in place and start removing the bolts that are holding the metal trim down (the trim holds the boot down) then use time and patience to pull the boot over the shift handle... it will take time and you will stretch it. Then you have 4 more bolts that hold the actual shifter in place.

those bolts you can see in the pic are just for that ring to hold the rubber boot down. Its not the end of the world fi those break as you can get new clips and such and replace them~ but I would personally put some penetration lub on them to soak really good and then try to remove them. You can spray the underside of the bolt as well as you can see it from under the car (tight fit but its there)
