looking into doing a 5.4 swap into my 98 gt... what are some pros and cons? will i have to stay with a 2v or can i go to a 4v w/o changing computers and all that jazz? Where should i get a motor? junkyard and rebuild it or Jasper and dont worry about it?

the 5.4 2v swap is pretty much a direct bolt in with very little modifications, visit mustangboards.com and look into 4.6 tech and u will see a 260 page thread detailing the swap, the torque alone is worth it. the 4v swap gets a little tricky.

yeah forget the 4v crap. i am definitely 95% committed to doing this swap. but one thing i am confused about is whether or not i will have to get a different intake? and do you know what kind of hp/tq ratings i could get from a basic swap?

buy the hps intake thats specially made for the 5.4 2v swap. it takes the headache out out of things, u can buy adapters to run a pi intake on it but it's a bandaid. as far as power id check the site, alot of them have dyno sheets with basic builds to extreme

i think the fact they can make them fit under a factory hood is pretty cool but i think the cowl hood is great lookin to! especially when you need the extra space for your motor vs aesthetic purposes... but unfortunately i leave for the coast guard december 8th so it may be a year or so before all this is done but hey the $$ has to come from somewhere

the 2v will clear the hood. the only way it wont clear if they do a lightning swap. the 4v can clear it also.

yesh, please do... if you go 4v and cant clear the hood just go aftermarket eh?
and I would think that a seized 5.4 wouldn't be too big of a deal, turned crank and rods and kick it. just resleeve any hosed up cylinders.

it has the pi heads then, which give u a very nice start. ull need to reuse your oil pan anyway and i would use the hps intake. as far as the coils, u wont really need the as u can reuse your stock setup u have now.

i was wanting to end up with around 400 rwhp out of it but thats before i found out about the swap... but nothing too too radical and i really wont have any good money to spend till i get out of boot camp (ship out dec. 8th) so this build is gonna take a while and i really wasnt planning on starting it anytime soon but then i found that motor...
