Yup, more v6 to 4.6 swap questions

Thinking about doing the swap that so many people ask about. I know it would usually be cheaper to just sell the v6 and buy a gt, but it will be cheaper in this case because I might be getting a 95 v6 rolling chassis and a totalled 97 gt.
Did anything change between the v6s from 94-95 and 96-98? Is the fuel system on the v6 a return or returnless system? how about on the 4.6? Other than that I think I got everything covered.

The fuel pump is different between 94-97 and the 98 The the 98 has the same pump as the GT and in 94-97 it was smaller. Returnless did not come out till 99

Get some PI heads and intake if your going to do it and get it all done at the same time.

Crossmember is different. You'll need a tubular. Wiring harneses are all different. Basicly get ready to move everything electrical over with the engine. Tranny mounts are different lots of stuff really.

i knew all that stuff, just wasn't sure on the fuel pumps, if i get these cars i'll probably just swap fuel tanks.

I hate to refer you to somewhere else, but they're are many people that have done this already that are definely willing to help you.. not to meantion that doing a search on a few popular websites will help also, ME is still very new in the V8 attention department

I'd reccomend to try to find a donor car from the same year or atleast that has the same basic parts as yours.
If they changed the crossmember, ecu, fuel, wiring and whatnot between your car and the donor car you will have a lot to change over....if you find one with the same basic stuff and just need to convert some wiring and other smal things, get that.

swapping the running gear from any gt into any v6 will involve swapping all that stuff. it shouldnt be any harder than the swap in the 64; it will probably be easier since its mostly unbolt from the gt, bolt into the v6

Yeah man, it will be an adventure, but if you go lots of time and doing most of it yourself, I imagine you can do it just fine, take your time, read the haynes manuals and everything else you can find about it. A PI head swap would not be a bad idea while you have that 4.6L out of the car if you can afford it. And of course the intake to go with it.

Here is a good trick to remember to tell if you have bad wires. Stop your car in a very dark place at night and raise the hood, if you have bad wires, they arch to surrounding metal objects, so if they are bad you will see a small light show around them under the hood in the dark.

^ huh. good advice, I'd have never thought about that. Of course, I can't think of any dark place in Birmingham I'd want to stop my car at....
