Turbos, supercharger and nitrous all do the same thing. They force more air and fuel into the combustion chamber. The big difference between a nitrous system and a turbo or supercharger is you can turn the nitrous off. And it's way cheaper then a turbo or supercharger.
Nitrous is N20. When it is in the combustion chamber and the temp gets hot, I think it's about 545 degrees, the molecule disassociates releasing the oxygen. You inject fuel with the nitrous and you have a combustion chamber stuffed full of oxygen and fuel. Same thing you get with a turbo or supercharger. They are easy to install, about a tenth of the cost of a turbo or supercharger kit. Yes you do have to buy the nitrous but when a turbo kits cost five to seven thousand dollars and a nitrous kit cost seven hundred you can buy a WHOLE LOT of nitrous with the money you saved. Yes you can blow your motor to bits with nitrous but that is because you can stuff way more oxygen and fuel into the combustion chamber then you can with a turbo or supercharger. So just don't go crazy and have realistic goals for the HP you want to make. It is much better then a turbo or supercharger.
