Hi everyone, of course i am new here, I have a 2000 Mustang V.6 3.8 Liter Convertible,Black top, Red exterior, Beige interior with aftermarket audio system, I will be adding pictures soon. It was my dad's first convertible mustang, and I inheritated so she is priceless to me. I am needing a new convertible top bc the top i have present has a leakage from either the back glass or the tears that i have on the top, my husband has been looking for one so he can replace it himself, if you have replaced your convertible top before, is it easy to replace or have any tips?

Welcome to the site.
As far as the top...I would highly recommend having a reputable upholstery shop do the work for you. The tops are fairly cheap from 50resto.com. Look to spend about 1000 for the top and installation if you're good at finding a deal, more if the shops know how much work is involved.

Oh cool thanks, ill check out that website. My husband had checked out on ebay for a top and he saw a top for 310 but im not sure if thats a good idea as far as getting one from there or not, is it a good idea to look for one from ebay?

Ebay is a good site if you know exactly what you're looking for. Unless you know the manufacturer I would probably steer clear. Research the companies that make tops and find one that has a good reputation, if you come across one of those reputable tops on Ebay then go for it. Make sure the warranty is transferable if bought from a private seller.

you may can find a convertible top on ebay that is on the frame, so its just a matter of bolting a new frame on the car, get a top for a 99-04 though only.
I would also recommend if you want the top to be better go with a 2003 or 2004 cobra mustang top as it is fabric not plastic vinyl and looks much better. Generally the cost difference is not that much (250-300 or so)
Its a job to just put a top on so I would not tackle it unless I had done it before.
YOu can contact Tousley Ford Parts Depot they have GREAT prices on factory ford parts (10% over stock)

Thanks for the info, i will definately consider lookin into it Spector, my top is fabric so i definately will stay with a fabric top over anything else. Will the cobra style top fit my car though even if the top is for a 2003 or 2004?

The 2003/2004 cobras come with a fabric top much closer to a cloth top. Any convertible top for a 1994-2004 should fit your car, but I'd stay within 99-04 just to make sure it fits properly.

If you car's top is truly fabric then its been changed as they were not available until 2003 and only on the cobra from the factory.
Ragg Topp cleaner works wonders so pick it up with the new top.
