spark plugs and wires

Do different spark plugs and spark plug wires make any kind of difference on a car with few modifications such as mine? Thanks.

with mustangs you do NOT want to use plugs like bosch platnum ( single +2 +4 ) or any of those just use motorcraft or autolites. i had bosch platnum 2 plugs in my mustang and took them out after 2 days it made the c ar run horrible. bought autolite platnums and no problems what so ever

what have you guys heard of NGK IX spark plugs. the iridium plugs. i know they are a bit expensive for plugs but how do they perform?

I would suggest using Autolites or Motorcraft plugs. I personally have not seen any sort of gain with bigger wires or any kind of special spark plug. The only reason people check out their wires is ensure a good clean, powerful spark to the cylinder. The factory wires are good enough for a while, but over time become weak and brittle and do not provide a good conductive path anymore. Thicker wires are the same way, they just take longer to break down.

I agree. Don't waste your money on expensive spark plugs because you will not notice any difference. You can pick a set of Autolites up at Walmart for 5 bucks compared to whatever insane amount the NGK's cost (I was thinking it was somewhere around $40 for 8). The only performance increase you may notice from new plugs and wires will be if there was something wrong with the old ones.

However, be sure the new plugs are gapped correctly. An incorrect plug gap can cause a lot of problems...

Yeah, I put a set of Bosch Platinum plugs in an old Pinto 2.3L one time, it ate them up, I mean burnt the electrodes right out of them in a few months. Just use Autolites or Motorcraft in your ford, I remember a chevy guy telling me one time he only ran Autolites in his Camaro, lol.
