I have decided to go ahead with some mods for my car and have the Ford dealer do it because it will still be covered by factory warranty.
I wanted to add Ford Racings CAI and tune since it is required. The guy also suggested to go ahead and changes my gears to 3.73.
Other than a pulley change which I am not going to do for a while (again warranty) I guess this is about all I need to do for now.
I have heard some others have changed the gear, is this worth doing?
Any other mods suggested.

well if you get a different CAI/tune you will make MUCH more power and you can always simply put the stock one back on and load the stock tune for dealership trips (which... face it how often do you ACTUALLY take it to the dealer anyway... I had an extended warranty for 3 years and NEVER used it not even once)
You should gain about 50 rwhp with a good intake/tune.
Changing the rear gear WILL help acceleration but it WILL be costly for those 2 tenths of a second you shave off your car. Thats your call, gas mileage will go down about 1-2 mpg on the highway as well (not sure you care just fyi).
If I had a GT500 I would do:
Exhaust
Intake/Tune
Lower the car / Other suspension mods
Pulley / Retune
My friend has a TVS ford racing supercharger upgrade on his GT500 with the mods above and has 600rwhp, not bad from the 430rwhp stock.

gears in general are not an issue other than gas mileage loss. Its the install that has to be done right, especially on the newer 8.8's where the tolerance is tighter than older 8.8's. this can be costly, and very costly if you try to do it on the cheap.

I got a price for the Ford dealer here and the gears were less than $200 but the labor would be $750 to install. Not an easy process to change out.

I asked the Ford parts guy how much it was to 1) Find the correct wheel lug key since mine is striped and 2) To get my second key programed and he told me it was just $150 to pull it into the shop Now I wonder how they owe Ford Credit $4.2 Million

gear install on the newer mustangs is not as easy as previous (tolerances are tighter) but overall it should not cost 750 in labor, thats about 10 hours worth of work... it should only take about 2 to swap the gears in/out and another 1 hour to setup the gears and test drive it... so 4 hours total tops~ and gears are about 200 as stated.
But... if it was 750 for a 90% chance its done right vs 400 for a 50% chance... yea you see where im going with this.

You know the dealers are a premium price, but the guy told me it was a 7.5 hour job to change them out.
