You might have too much slack in your clutch cable. Push on the clutch pedal with your hands, if it moves a little rather freely, you have too much slack. I have the same problem on my car, you need to remove that by adjusting your clutch pedal. The car comes with a stock racheting system. Push the pedal down and then hold the quadrant with your hand while pushing the pedal down, then pull up on the pedal and you'll hear a clicking noise. I would advise only going 1 or 2 clicks.

no that is not the problem
there is something to do with the computer and or fuel management system
when you floor it and go to shift the revs stay up for a second before dropping
thanks for the response

considering your computer has no control over when/how you shift...its definatly not an EEC problem
and the rpms are going to stay up for a second, especially depending on your driving, it sounds normal to me

the 99 up mustangs have a decay idle rate, mine does this also. It can be advanced (made worse) by having a clean MAF and idle by pass (IAC) valve. Check and replace/clean these and reset the battery.
what do you mean rev/rpm matching... that makes no since to me. There is no need to rpm match to shift gears, thats what syncros are for. If you can not get the shifter into a given gear that it should have no trouble going into then its not the computer, the shifts of the tranny are not linked to the computer in anyway.
try cleaning those and see if it fixes your problem, if your shifter is hard to get in to a given gear then you may not be using enough cable, aka to much slack in the cable. This seems to be a problem with 99 up v6's due to their long cable...
you can get a chip to alter the decay idle rate if you wish, if you unplug the VSS sensor then the rpms will drop like a ROCK as soon as you let off of the gas.

boy this is sure hard to explain
it shifts fine but you could shift faster and more clean if the engine speed would drop faster
for instance when you hit wide open throttle and push the clutch in the revs stay up for a second before dropping making it hard to shift fast

yes
say you are at full throttle say 4500 and you push the throttle in the revs will go up to 5000 then start to go down
i had somebody suggest disconnecting the vehicle speed sensor [vss] located on the transmission
has anybody tried this

its nothing to do with the motor, well not as much as you think.
I installed my vss speedcal unit to fix my speedometer, well the power wire to it came loose that powered the speedcal. The speedcal intercepts the vss sensor output and alters it to give you the correct mph read out. Well my speedo didnt work when the power wire to the speedcal came loose due to no signal was being sent to the ecu to tell the car how fast I was going.
I drove the car the rest of the way home to fix it. Every time I pushed the clutch in to shift and the rpms droped like a rock every time i pushed the clutch in, BAM they would drop. Thus your problem is in your idle decay rate which is controled by the car.
The reason the rpms droped is that when the speedomter registers zero miles per hour the rpms do NOT hang, they drop. So the car thought I was not moving and told the computer to lower the idle decay rate.
You need to get a chip tunned to rest your idle decay rate, you do not need zero rate... but it is rather bad at times. The reason the rpms stay is for an easier shift actually... its easier to shift to the next gear when the rpms are higher... thats part of why they do it.

now it makes sense!!!!
thankyou
where would you get something to modify the decay rate
it is easier to shift when normal driving but i want it to shift like my old 65 falcon sprint did with a 4 speed and a built 289 you could grab the next gear as fast as you wanted to shift
miss the old days but o well the falcon got 8-10 miles per gallon and my 2003 gets 24-27

I still have no issues with shifting, regardless of my rpm, I can shift to second at 5500 rpms with out much hassel, the T-5 is a notchy tranny.... and you got to know how it drives... but should be fine. A shifter may fix it, if you still want to tinker with the idle decay rate you sould try cleaning your MAF and your idle bypass valve. That will remove any issues with dirty sensors causing it. My idle will literaly SIT at XXXX rpm even when im stopped when my maf gets a little dirty... lol
i would contact americanmotorsports or justin or someone with a good rep on the v6 chip making. They can fix you up a chip and alter that stuff, also do other stuff for you, just DO NOT mess with the rev limiter.
