i just got the x-cal2 in my car a few hrs ago, and the diff is very cool. its set on the "aggressive" mode right now which is supposed to be the highest performance mode. what the guy said he did was get the tunes from sct and adjust it a little for a little more performance over the tunes sct sent. i have noticed a few things on the way home:
better pull throughout powerband (very noticeable)
higher redline (1st spins to 6k)
harder/faster shifts (in 90degree weather w/ full tank, i can bark the tires into 2nd)
way better throttle response
alot more "jumpier" from a dead stop (not including WOT)
as of right now, overall i am very pleased with this mod and hope to stay that way, the only setback is that i have to put 93 octane in this mode. i can switch it to 87 mode, but i wont have as much power. so we'll have to see what kinda mileage i get with this mode.
attached it a 0-90 accel vid. full tank of gas, stock interior, and my fat ass

so flashing it just plugs into your diagnostic port? cuz i was checking that out...
might save me a dynotrip for a quick fix. especially once the gears go in.

yeah, you dont have to replace the stock computer, just plug the programmer in, follow the instructions, and youre good to go.

Sweet...I had a feeling you would have the total "seat of the pants-o-meter" approval. Sounds like Cody did some other tweaks for you? Did he do this for free? Guess it is a good thing I sent you his way???
Bet you can't wait for the dyno now to see what that says for improvements.

yeah i can def feel a difference with the sct now. he said he "had a few tricks up his sleeve" and tweaked the "aggressive" tune a little more. yes he tweaked it and programmed it for free, i paid $400 for the programmer and that was it. i had another shop that said they could do it for me for the same price, but they might have not tweaked it more and just gave me the tunes sct programmed. cody sure sounds like he knows what he is talking about and i will most definately get my exhaust system from him too.
thanks for referring me to him
i will probably dyno it in a few weeks, it all depends on the weather, i'm gonna try and find a somewhat cooler day than today to run it, then i will run it again in the fall or winter when it cools off
and in regards to the track tommorrow. i have to work till 6 and dont know what juston has to work. pending your work schedule and convience, if you just wanna go next friday, it would probably be better for me b/c i get off at 2 next friday. but just let me know.

Next week is much better. I still haven't found a helmet yet, so I couldn't run tomorrow anyhow. We will just plan on it for next week. Besides, from the sounds of it outside, rain might actually occur tomorrow like they predict.

remember when I told you not to raise your rev limiter... well its VERY bad to do it... there is absolutly NO point in going over 5.5 K in your car, your simply wasting your time and hurting the car, alter it back to 5.5k.... you risk damaging yoru engine.

i know you told me that, but i didnt personally raise it or ask for it to be raised, thats the way it came. i asked the guy if it will do anything bad to the engine spinning that high and he said as long as i dont do it all the time, then i wont have a problem. but i'll see about getting it pushed back to 5.5 if its gonna hurt something.

get it back down, ive seen more than a couple mustangs come into the local ford dealer... they stuck in a chip/programmer and raised the rev limiter and spun a rod bearing going to high... going over 5500 rpms is just going to slow your car down. you will also want to make sure your car shifts at 5500rpms.

dam 5500 limiter, that would suck for me, id only have full boost for about 1500 rpm before id have to shift.
but yeah id bring it down. theres no power up past 4.5 anyways unless you got some goodies(heads n cams).
and you should be putting in 93 anyways. i wish i had 93, in cali, the best we get is 91 pisswater. i found a gas station on the way home from LA once with 100octane and ran that for a full tank, and oh my god, you wanna talk about "ass dyno pulls" i crapped my pants getting back onto the freeway and driving back home doing 3rd gear pulls.

our engines are set to run on regular. any higher for a stock engine is bad. I know he has a chip or w/e now, but you said he should be running 93 anyways, and that's false.

why would higher be a bad thing? higher octane allows more timing advance due to being able to ward off knock better.

Because without a tune and change in timing, the higher octane will change the combustion characteristics that the car was programmed for. With the tunner changing the timing, then you up the octane as the tune is changing the timing to be right for the higher octane. Without the tune, running higher octane is just a waste of money and potentially harmfull to your engine and/or performance.

and the only way to get that advanced timing is to tune for it....
