was doing my tuneup yesterday when the damn extension and/or the spark plug socket kept falling off and into the enginebay or on the control arms. (had to use a crappy almost broke 6" extension for the pass. side plug in the back) my dad comes over to help, socket and extension fall off again and cant find it. get the jack out i put it on the subframe and my dad starts to jack the car up, I crawl under the airdam to try to locate the socket and extension, im on my side and about that time the jack slips off the car, I was very lucky that it caught on the floorboard and stayed and im only a little sore this morning from being smacked with the bottom of the bumper and radiator deflector in the kidney/rid area.

Geez. one of my biggest fears every time I get under the car is that it will fall on me and crush me. I use Jack stands

I use jackstands to,nothing to be ashamed about. but didnt worry about them since all i had to do is grab a socket and extension, if the car is raised for a extended period of time, like when i did my h pipe I used jackstands.

always use jackstands. it takes 2 seconds to jack up the car high enough and slide one under, and can save your life.
i wont get under a car without them.
i could see just a jack to take a wheel off and do brakes or such, but even than its safe to put a jackstand if youre gonna have the car up high for a while, you dont want a jack to give out and the car land on the bumper, thatll suck big time.

the title of this thread reminded me of a moron I knew. He some how got a 95 cobra which was ONLY refered to as the cobra... cuz it was just so fast in its stock with no cats glory.
well he is a dumbass... and even that much power is to much for him and he took a ditch.. he claimed the car tried to kill him ... .. no he is just a dumbass... why they didnt total it I dont know..

imagine having an F350 dually up on a lift, your arm reaching up under the vehicle - on top of the trans trying to get to the ICP sensor, having the lift drop down suddenly and slam onto the safety latches while doing it... makes me never want to use a non-drive on lift for any truck ever again
