Friend of mine says he's having a hard time removing his crank pulley on his 87 5.0.
I can't see what his problem is, since he's in Montgomery and I'm stuck up here in Decatur, but any tricks to help him get it off?
he says "i bought a harmonic balancer remover for that..but i have just a 15/16 socket for the crank"

you back the middle bolt out a bit, then you use the pulley puller to pop her out, you got to pull the middle bolt out in order to have a place for the pulley to go.. the bolt is currentyl holding it from moving at all. That bolt is a PITA lol

the pulley on my motor is just held on with 4 hex bolts, i didn't even need a puller to get it off, maybe he needs to take the pulley off like that first, then pull the balancer off?

I dunno, I can't see it, and I've never really been around many 5.0s.

He's going to need an impact, if he isn't already using one. If you try to break them loose with a wrench, you just turn the motor over. Other than that, I don't know what his problem could be.

if its an auto you can get her off, or if its in gear and the rear wheels are on the ground or ebrake is up... but impact makes life much much easier.

I put the car in first, locked the E Brake, soaked it with PB blaster, let it sit overnight.. then went out again with a large breaker bar..
If possible though.. Get an impact gun on it.. less chance of breaking it

I gotta get a box and wire my shed for about 25 or 30 amps so I can run my compressor without blowing breakers all the time, yes, impact is great! All air tools are great for that matter.
