Ya I suck, I knew I would tho. I don't expect myself to learn how to drive/race/launch a 5spd after having only driven stick for all of about 3k miles in my entire life.
But I did get a new best despite the 80* heat and 89% humidty..
I need to get my 60' down and I think I'll be running the times I should.
I DO like the fact that I picked up 2mph over my previous best(which was on a cold and 0 humidity day) on a very hot and very humid day today...so that made me happy

with the mods that you have the best you could get is only about 14.0-14.3 . you have to admit that for a N/A 6 its not too bad. slap some nitrous on there and you got your self into low 14's maybe high 13's.

it takes a little bit of time to find the sweet spot since everyone drives a bit different. Just get some good 60fts down before you rag on the shifts to hard... its a waste of time to shift hard when you pulled a 3.0 60ft so dont waste the wear and tear on the tranny. Once you get the 60s where you wand em then worry about shifting good.

ya I know..but I just wanted to see what the car would do my first time down the track with the manual...I was somewhat pleased.
I think once I can start to stick the times will drop down to what I should be running (low 14's n/a), and maybe even see a 13 on a cool night.

You have to be careful when launching with a 5 speed, especially on stock tires. With my car, when I have my Mickey Thompson ET streets on there, I launch at 3500rpms. When I had stock tires on, I launched at around 1200rpms. I didn't dump the clutch, I just let it out extremely fast...next best thing to dumping. I had some junkyass Firestone Indy500 tires, and when I launched like that, it got me a 2 flat 60ft time.

also, work on getting your reaction time down into the .2's or .3's or faster. You can practice easily every day. Just drive around and when you get to a traffic light thats red, anticipate the green light by watching the lights for cross traffic. Then see how quickly you can get going. You can do this without spinning the tires, and nothing about this is illegal so cops cant say anything, unless your spinning your tires wildly.

well you have another .2 in the 60ft that you can take off at least, and with finding the right shift points in sure you can get more.

That sounds like a bad idea... ppl love running reds around here so i always wait and look around lol
and cops can give you a BS ticket like "excessive accelleration" so yes, they can do something about it

for one, I'm not running normal street tires. I have Nitto 555R's mounted on my 17s...so they are my "street" tires.
And second, RT has nothing to do with ET. I wasn't too worried about my RT that night as much as I was learning how to launch. Also, my track runs off a .500 light so cutting a .6xx light isn't that bad for not really worrying about it.
Believe me I know how to drag race (120+ timeslips, have won 1st on bracket racing nights before).
I was going to go on friday but it rained up here...hopefully it will be nice this wednesday or even friday.

a good reaction time still doesn't hurt. And where I live, out in the country somewhat, theres limited traffic and cops so I have nothing to worry about

RT is all about timing. Once you learn how to time the light and how fast you/your car reacts it's pretty easy to be consistant at cutting .5-.6 lights.
But as far as test & tune is concerened, RT means squat.
And yea, I do speed off from lights every now and then. But the advantage to using drag radials is dropping the pressire and getting them sticky, which I don't do on the street.

i just went a few days ago, and my best time was a flipping 14.154 @ 100.76mph with a .056 RT and i was running .05 RT's all night. i was expecting to be in at least 13.9 with the new 75mm TB & P, spare tire out and Premium in there. idk if its me shifting or my tires or waht, but with around $2000 of bolt-ons invested into the GT, i figured it would be better. gettting smoked by Z28 and SS camaros all night really killed me, so i've been thinking and don't really have the money for a s/c and i may be rolling in something else soon......

want a spare set of bullitt wheels? minimal damage (they were not on the car when I was hit) they'd be perfect for mounting up a set of drag radials

here are my times on street tires..
5 speed
60FT 2.3627
330FT 6.3021
1/8 9.025
mph 75.18 (this is funny because usually I run 78-80 mph on cooler days and get a slower time)
