http://earth.google.com/
its a 3d imaging program google made. they used all the pics and info that you could find in the other topographical site(i forget the name right now) but you can move around like youre a bird.
you can download it here
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4659
ive been playing around with it for a couple days now. you can set points and make tours, use its street guide overlays for reference. if you like seein the world from a free floating and pretty dam graphical perspective(depending on where you live if its been scanned yet). today i went on a tour of Highway 1 on calis coast(windy road between SF and LA thats mere inches from the coast). i think ill have to take a actual trip down there when i get some time.

Thats fk'n awesome, I just visual saw my coming weekend vitual trip to PA and it took seconds shorter than it does to drive there 10hrs long in reality...now how to reverse that time scale to the seconds and it would be great!
...on to project time travel

yeah earlier today i mapped a 8 hour drive to my freind rays house down in oceanside(hes a marine).
i used mapquest to figure out the surrounding streets, then selected the "road" layer and found it, then followed the steps. mapquest makes finding shit easy, but seeing it the roads and terrain just makes it that much better. i think google should buy out mapquest next, then some GPS system provider, so you can get this in a CD form and use it in a car.
anyone check out any big cities and do the "building layer"? i was looking at SF, LA and NY and man, this shit kicks even more ass. but you better have enough system for it, cause with the terrain, roads and buildings layer it was getting pretty choppy.

i tried to find the great wall of china but no avail. that whole part of the world isnt scanned yet. i guess it takes a really long time to do even a few sq. miles in the high detail, let alone building and street layers.
just imagine how kick ass this would be in a few years when google sends up its own keyhole sattelites and we can do Earth Google in Real-Time, and use shit like Infared and Heat sensitive capture.

it is keyhole. if you saw your house on the other site, it will be on the google thingie.
sometimes you get disconnected from the servers. when things dont load check the bottom of the screen where it says "streaming", it should always have a few IIIII that are blinking in sucession, meaning youre connected.
also, im sure 56k sucks the big one with this program.

Keyhole focused better on my house to the point where you could definitely see my Mustang parked outside, with this it is really.. vague. But funny enough it still had my bookmarks from my keyhole program. Edward's Airforce Base, people's houses, Boston where I visited. Good shit though, even that huge crater in Arizona I placed.
