Engine troubles

I was driving my 1973 mustang around today, and i forgot that when i start i gotta press the gas pedal down, then release then press again. The first time i press the gas the engine shuts off, but when i take my foot off it starts running again. Any idea what might be causing it? At first i thought it might of been the exhaust leak at the manifold, but we got that fixed but still happening.

What kind of choke do you have?

Uh....dont wanna sound dumb. But thats why i joined some forums, so i can learn stuff. I dont know what the choke is a car, sorry.....im a newb
