On most hondas and acuras, there is an LED right on the ecu. This LED tells you the code. I put the key in, turned the ignition on, but engine off, and the LED starts blinking in correspondance to the number of the code. Here is what I came up with:

4 - Crank Angle Sensor or circuit

Do you think that a sensor like that could cause the engine to run so horribly or not at all? Does that code make sense in relation to the problem I am having?

Yes. It's what tells the computer where the crank is. That's how it knows when to fire the plugs and injectors, well it also uses the cam sensor too. They have a limp home mode that will allow you to drive the car with that failure mode. However, as you have found out, it drives poorly.

hahahaha thats for sure. It barely starts now. So what has to be done to correct this problem? Replace the sensor? Or is it more complicated then that?

glad you know it now.

replace the sensor. when my buddy did the MPFI swap on his 89 crx(from tbi to mpfi) we had the same exact code. we went through all the wiring and couldnt figure it out. so he sold it to a guy who fixed it by buying a new distributor. but i believe in yours the CAS should be external from the dist.

wait nm i thought it said cam angle sensor.

anyways, replace the crank sensor and see.

Don't think I'll be buyin that teg from ya. You know, from one of the two other threads about it, the one where you mention it's for sale but not the problems from the other threads.

hmmm so dont buy it. No big deal. Once its fixed, its gonna run fine. Its a mechanical piece of equipment. Things will break on it. It won't last 2,000,000 miles.

yeah and a sensor going bad on a car is by far the worst thing in the world too
