i always wanted a project car and now a guy that used to be my neighbor and lives only 1 hr away is selling a couple engines... right now he has a 351 with tranny,,,
a 351 Ford Motor and a c4 Transmission.i am not sure if it is a windsor or a cleveland or not. the motor is a good motor it came from an 80's truck and it runs pretty good. it has a new distributor, and new motor mounts.it is a 4 barrel intake , the only numbers i can find are on the intake, and they are e4te-8425-bb
does this sound like a good deal if i buy the engine-tranny for 200$ or is it more work than i know of..

i sold a non running 68 302 that needed a rebuild (complete except for carb and intake) with a beat up old c4 that also needed a rebuild for $200. If you don't buy it I want it

could a 351 ford with c4 tranny ever possibly go in my 03 v6?
would this ever be possible

It is very possible...with enough time and money. You will need to strengthen the whole chassis, new suspension, new rear end, new driveshaft, new exhaust work, alot, and I mean alot of custom fabrication for the install. But to answer your question, yes it's possible.

You will probably want at least a 150 mph speedo out of a gt. As far as calibration I have absolutely no idea. As far as computer, the one on that engine..if it has one, is not very complicated. I'd say set aside about 5g for the swap, and that's guessing low.

But...it'll be a one of a kind...and one hell of a beast if you build it right. That 351 responds very well to small things.

as far as gauges go, a gauge cluster out of a 94-95 would be good b/c it has a mechanical speedo that would be much easier to make work with the c4 than the electric speedo.

well i didnt end up buying the 351 cause he wanted a lil more than i want to pay for an engine im just gonna screw around with. He also has a 289 mustang engine on ebay for 99$ right now and it ends within a day if anyone is interested... But does anyone have any complaints with the 350 chevy engine other than the "i hate chevy shit" they seem very easy to find and easy to mod just to learn on

so you are going to buy an engine, build it up, then not put it in a car?

What you can do...is buy a 350, stroke and bore it, build it up, put edlebrock valve covers so it doesn't say chevy, and drop it in the stang. Noone but us will ever have to know it's a chevy and you'll be smoking some ppl down the track.

No heres what i want... I plan to buy an engine like a 350 or 351; tear it completely apart then replace gaskets and whatever else. Then later this year buy a rolling chasis and drop the engine in. My friend is doing the excate same thing with a 73 nova that he bought with a inline 6 and is replacing with a 350... i mainly want the experience. BC my dad is completely unsupportive and ignorant towards engines im gonna be doing it on my own.

I beleive in order to mount a chevy engine in a Ford you would need: a chevy transmission, custom motor mounts, cut and weld a ford and chevy drive shaft together, then have it balanced, plus a lot of incidentals, and with computerized stuff I am sure you would need a chevy computer most likely.

I hate to be the one to say this, but buying an engine to rebuild it when you don't know what your doing THEN finding a car to put it in is probably a sure-fire way to lose money. Especially if you turn down a 351 windsor with c-4 for $200.
