Just to get it out of the way now, I am not going turbo, so please keep all opinions supercharger related. Thanks. Also, I know there is another thread out there just a couple threads down from this one, but it has kinda died out, so here is a new one.
Ok, I am building my plan for my V6 build up and I need opinions on superchargers. I know there are Vortech/Paxton, Procharger, and I think some smaller names out there. I have been looking at the options available for the V6, and there really aren't a lot which is disappointing.
Anyhow, what are y'alls opinion on the various selections out there? I'm looking for things like reliability, sound quality, and power gains. And, if someone wants to just suggest a model or something too, feel free.
Also, I think I head it from you Brent about Kenne Bell coming out with a SC for the V6? Is that true or am I thinking of a conversation with someone else? Afterall, it was late and I was whipped from all the schooling I did to you guys on the court. If it is true, where might one be able to read up on that a little?
Thanks everyone.
On a related note, I have found a 2001 Sonic Blue V6 with 56k miles here for $5k and change at a mitsubish dealership. Going to look at it this week I think and see if I can maybe trade my truck for it or work some sort of deal.

Honestly, I know the turbo is better and such, but, I am just not a fan of them. I don't like the sound of them, I don't like the concept of lag (spoiled with my instant boost when I want it) and they are just not something I like. Pretty much, I am stubborn.

^ So I'm not going crazy then. I knew it had something to do with a KB and a V6. Let's see, a 2.2L KB sitting on top of a V6. Now, that would definitely be a nice way to go. I hope he does get it finished and does get it dialed in. I might be #2 on the list for that one.

He still doesn't like the sound as he has said.
Rob,
First thing I would do is get the V6 Built for a supercharger.
Get the engine done 9:1 Compression Ration and then get her in.
By that time I am hoping V6Sprout will have something ready

Because I think turbos sound like ass. The lag may be minimal and they may be better, but they still sound like ass to me. Also, it is not for a race car. It is for my daily driver. It will be my driver so that I don't have to rack the miles up on the Cobra. It will also be a car I would take to things like the V6 races and such. It would also be something I take to shows when I don't feel like taking the cobra...or when I feel like taking both the cobra and the 6er. But, racing is my 3rd or 4th priority on this car. It will have the supporting hardware to race, but it is not going to be a race car. It will be my grocery getter....just with a little spunk.
Brent,
Yes, the first step will be to get the car then to get the motor. If the adaptor is ready for the KB by that time, I will most likely go that route. If not, I am looking for any opinions on the other brand of super chargers. I have heard the ATI ones suck ass, but, that was heard on a cobra forum. I want to get any opinions anyone might have about the other brands. When it comes to the roots types (Eaton, Whipple, KB)...I know their info. When it comes to Centri types...I am clueless.

I would go with Vortec. I believe velocitymustangperformance can custom fab a intercooler for it and that would be a good setup.
Vortec is tried and true... either get the v1 (loud) or v2 (quiet) whichever you prefer.

In all honesty, during his burnout it sounds more like something is wrong with the car. I know there isn't, but the on again off again on again, in and out of boost sounds like something is broken.
In summary:
BOV sound = puke
whooosh sound = not impressive and boring to me. doesn't make me think power like the sound of a KB/Eaton/or loud Centri type SC, it makes me think something is broken.
overall impressiveness = not impressed.
I know turbos are more efficient, can be made to have minimal or no lag, will probably yeild more hp, but all in all, I don't like them. They rate up there with having an auto in a muscle/pony car. It is not on my top 10 list of favorite things. Generally, I don't like turbos...unless they are 3-4 in series on a super stock tractor at the tractor pulls.
So, on topic, we have a suggestion for a vortech. They are established and proven. The V1 would give me that sound I am looking for. Anyone else have any opinions or has this thread pretty much run its course?

Man I like using this quick reply icon instead of the quote option.
Anyhow, I have a few of his vids. I remember the SC being louder than it was when I listened to them last. What is the name of your file? I think I have 3 vids of him. It was those vids that got me thinking of doing the build up...although his 230 rwhp was a bit depressing until I learned the truth about it.

How do you think he's bought a cobra, an exploder, and a house lol. He went to school....somehow worked his butt off and got a good paying job. More power to him, now if I could just do the same without having to work my butt off lol

vortech is the more dependable between vortech and procharger...
I can't imagine not liking the sound of a turbo. It sounds like a jet going by

some turbo's sound like ass. mine does. its not until you get into the 50 trims that you have a kick ass sounding jet engine like turbo. mine sounds like a pissed off vacuum cleaner at 20psi, but most MHI turbos sound like that. especially when youre using a turbo outside its efficiency range it will have that crappy sound like the turbo is struggling.
but i have to say, any boost is better than no boost. supercharger or turbo, at least hes getting bewsted.
id go with the vortech for a dd with balls, but the procharger for a car that means business.
