Ok, can someone clarify this for me? I was told that a h-pipe reduces the compression ratio and an x-pipe would be better for a true dual exhaust. I just wanna know the difference between the two and is there any real difference performance-wise

true dual has no connection betweent the 2 pipes, if I'm not mistaken.
My exhaust comes from the headers straight down the side of the car, no connection between the two. On a V6, X or H pipe isn't really needed, because it's an even firing engine.

Ok Lets get rid of some misinformation. Whether you have a X, H or any other type of crossover pipe does not change the fact the exhaust is true dual exhaust. I dont know where that started but that is hog wash. The real definition of true duals came from the mid 70's where the auto manufacturers decide to run a y from the manifolds all the way to the muffler and Y from there. Rather cheesy. They would only use 1 muffler, so companies for advertisements use to brag about a car having true dual exhaust. That is where it came from!!!!
Nothing you do to your exhaust will change your compression ratio. That takes place in the combustion chamber in the engine.
Actually the real difference between the H and X is more a personal preference. Actual HP difference is minimal at best. Some say the X sounds better than the H but on a stock V6 they both sound like ass if you take off the cats.
