I'm looking at a set of Mt Et Street, 26X11.50-17. I'm not sure they will fit my17x10.5 rims. Would these be about the same as 315/35/17? If not what size would they be?

You could fit a wider tire on there but those will work just fine. The debate I would have is 26 vs 28 inch tire. Are you having to shift right before the 1/4?

Yeah I have to shift to 4th to keep my car around 5300-5500 in 3rd. What would the benefit of a 28" over a 26"? Would 28" tires fit I have an Eibach 1.5" pro kit on the car.

The 28" tire is going to lower your speed slightly but should prevent you from having to shift before the traps. The less you shift the faster your ET will be.

1 inch = 25.4mm for reference and a 10 wide rim works best with a 295-305 tire... but every tire manuf has different ways of getting their number and all very.

Also, a 28" tire will fit with that drop. My cobra is slammed and I run a 28" tire on occasion. At the moment I have a 26" tall ET street on some 17x9 wheels.

well keep offset/backspacing in mind. You dont want the tire hitting the fender. As the rear frontspacing reaches past 3.5 inches you should start to pay attention to the wheel travel. If you have a fat sidewall overlap also pay attention. Mine is at 4 inches front spacing on the wheel with a normal sidewall overlap and my tires will hit my rear fender lip if I push it hard.
The 3.5 inch frontspacing number is for 99-04 mustangs.
