Well here is advice to all, from experience. I own a 1999 Mustang Cobra and when it was stock, i had it Dyno'd, 288 at the rear wheels. Before engine mods i stroked two 2001 Cobras. I called Ford, gave them the VIN and they told me that this particular car did not require the recall modifications, i don't know whats so special about this car that it doesn't require the "fix". But just in case i modded the engine to the max with out changing the heads or adding the Supercharger. It has upgraded Throttle body, upgraded Intake, Ram Air, Cams, Chip, Long Tube Headers, Exaust, 125 NOS shot, Tremec 6 speed, 3.73 gears....... Unbelievably........402 hp to the pavement with NO, nitrous. Near 497 horses with Spray est. Greg at trackmasters told me he couldn't give a true hp number with the bottle engaged. I also own another 99 that still needs the recall mod and i'm still confused so i'll start a thread about it shortly

there was only the intake problem which was upgraded and corrected, it is extremely rare to see a 99 without the correction, i reccommend what was stated earlier and buy the 99, build the bottomend and throw boost on it. i will yeild the same power as the termi with the same blower, the only difference in the heads is the cams, they have the same casting and you can get used cobra cams for cheap, mine will be up for sale next year, and they are brand new right now.
you will not regret the aluminum block, with some suspension mods and tires, it will leave like a monster from a dig.
i will post my N/A tuned dyno numbers as soon as we get done with it (see sig for mods)

it was not just the intake, they also changed out something on the exhaust and updated the tune~

most people dont worry about the exhaust or tune because they are going to change that anyway, the intake is the most important thing that most potential buyers look for, the tune wasn't significant anyway, it was just to accommodate the better flowing intake

I think there is a power difference. I raced my buddie (and yes he knows how to drive) in his 99 Cobra and I have a 01 both of them just has bolt ons and I spanked him over and over. I havent owned my car from new but he thinks the previous owner might have put a cam in it. I think now the 99's are about the same as the 01's as well. I bought mine for 16k with 40k miles on it, so I think I got a pretty good deal. I am looking at a twin turbo pkg now but it is very spendy....
