All you f'ers running around with the 99+ GT's.....performance wise, how much difference are they from my 96? Now, I'm not talking about ya'll with the extreme mods......just the basic bolt ons. And what about the 4.0's with bolt ons......anything I should worry about there? lol

Personally I find the 4.6 2v extremely lacking in power, even with the PI heads.. However, I know with boost these motors wake up big time, and the 4vs are great..
Then again I'm spoiled by a 12 second buick and my previous 11 second hatch 5.0..
I was a ford tech and have driven plenty of both, the 99+ is hands down more powerful than the 96-98 - BUT you will probably find that the 99-04 is lacking after a while.. It's Torque band is too peaky and not quite enough..
Handling/chassis wise, I'm not sure what they've changed but my car feels like a tank on rails running down the road (Solid but will go where you need it to)

Just how much of a boost are we talking about? I've got most of the basic bolt ons....that I know of....with exception on underdrive pulleys.
The car feels pretty fast to me....then again, all I've had in the past 10-12 years are trucks.....and have not had a stick shift in damned near 20....lol

Just consider what STOCK the PI heads/intake were worth. They bumped the car from 215 (225 in 1998..) to 260, That's a pretty solid jump - if your car feels strong now, especially with those bolt ons, you would notice a HUGE jump in power with the PI heads
As I said I'd been spoiled by a previous DD and previous stang... The 4.6 2v isn't 'slow' it's just not as powerful as what I'm used to. And I enjoy driving mine around, it gets out of its own way at least!

stock for stock the 99+ gt is .5-.6 tenths faster on average than teh 96-98 gts.
The 96-98 GT runs mid 14s to low 15s~ stock the 99-04 gt runs low 14s stock
as said above that 96 gt is very slow but isnt far away from becoming decent with a set of PI heads
