As i told you before i purchased a mach 1 take-off exhaust system for my '03 v6 vert. however, while trying to have it installed today i was told by a variety of places they wouldnt touch my project because the Y pipe is connected to the cats which would give me a 25,000$ fine if they removed them. I argued with multiple places stating that many of you'll have true dual exhaust on your v6 stangs, however, i was unsucessful..... Please dont tell me i have to buy a mustang gt's catts from the exhaust manifolds back in order to make this work. thanks for your time

you can touch the pipe AFTER THE CATS just go get the law, in good detail and have it notiorized that thats the law... and then show them... you dont even really get close to the cats, you just chop the Y pipe off as close as you can to the pipe merge. Buy a dual exhaust adaptor and you may be better off, they cant fine you if you do it correctly (after the cats)

Exactly.
Mine was cut right in front of the y-Pipe. I had a custom H to be put in so they just had to make it all fit.

they aren't touching your cats so i donno what their problem is...i'd recommend trying a shop that does more exhaust work than anything else..check the phone book..or you could just hand them this:

OK I would never go to a national muffler shop unless I knew someone there. I would look in the phone book for local privately owned shops and even find where the locals cruise around and ask who they use.

Good Kyle except the chrome tips.
Also, I agree with Corey, find a local (read: LOCAL) exhaust shop. They're usually nicer and not as stupid/gay.

Mach 1 exhaust has 3" rolled angle cut stainless tips. And that shop is full of crap. I had mine installed for under 100 bucks.

Well I noticed you live in KC. An option for you would be to drive up to Omaha and go to this place called Madhatter. it's on the corner or 140th and W Center. They can definately do it for you. I had my first exhaust made by them and it comes with a lifetime warrenty. They do AWESOME work too. They're very friendly and cheap for the most part. You can have them install any mufflers you would like, they have them in stock. Magnaflows, or flowmaster. Whatever. It'll take them like 2-3 hours to do it. It's also right across the street from Oak View mall in case you're looking for something to do during the wait. Just thought I'd give you that option.

If you're really serious about it, here's there phone number 402-330-2286. Their address is 2531 South 140 Ave. If you need anything like directions, just let me know. I can give you directions right to their front door. Just give them a call or something and ask them for a price quote for a custom dual exhaust kit with whatever mufflers you want. I know they have Flowmasters and magnaflows in stock. Look to spend about $300-$325 I think.

Rob thanks for the effort but the guy said "that exhaust(mach 1 take offs) might not fit your car" and i was like what? all i need is the y pipe to be cut and straight pipes running from my catts into my mach 1 take offs... nvtheless i think i have a place in town that will do it today for somewhat cheap. thanks again

By take offs, you mean you have the mufflers to the tips right? If so they will definately work. But anyways if it comes down to it and you can't find a place to put them on, my place will make your entire exhaust up to your tips and you can buy chrome tips from them and sell your take-offs. Good luck buddy. If you need anything else, just shout.

okay got the exhaust on today... and shit... i got in a bad situation.. i thought the guy was gonna give me a quote but kinda went about and started working without giving me a definite answer... exhaust and H pipe welded up total-260$
hourly wage 75$ X2 = 150 + aluminized pipes 20 + H pipe and labor separate and somehow it reaches 260
listen to this... they start working on the car and are taking forever after 2 hours is up the manager comes to me and says "you want an H pipe right" and i said no its okay the v6 is a single firing engine and will be fine with striaght pipes out the back.. he says "well your o2 sensor will get thrown off and start running your car lean or rich and maybe clog your catts within 3 days" i was like no its okay ill just go with what i have.. .then after 15mins more work i was like well this really mess up my catts -cause their expensive -he said you never know... so i went ahead and got the h pipe... i mean the welds are great and the exhaust sounds nice and all but i just got in a bad situation and the guy was taking forever to finish keeping my labor costs out the roof
