I personally like the smoked out headlights on the darker cars like sonic blue, black, and grey.
Dark Smoked Mustang Headlights (99-04) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!
Also iirc, I think projector style lights require a specific HID conversion kit, a normal headlight kit won't work on them. May want to keep that in mind if you do get the projectors.
Also you'll probably want to get a dual beam kit, one that switches between high and low beams. I'd look around, it seems most of the "mustang specific" vendors have the kit for 279.99, but you may be able to find it cheaper.

i bought my HID's off of ddmtuning.com. they were real affordable, fast shipping, and the parts come with lifetime warranty. i paid 78 bucks shipped for 6000k HID's and it was plug and play.

check out sponsors they are good to deal with, if they dont have what you want then find a kit and look up reviews (as you are now) to ensure the quality is there.
Just FYI though... 10k might get you in trouble due to the color and they will blind people since the headlight stock isnt made for HID lights... and no aftermarket headlights for the mustangs look decent at all which sucks.

I think AM states that their projectors and HIDs can NOT be combined. For the exact reason I can not say, perhaps it is the heating issue, perhaps it is just because the light beam will be too bright.
Dual beams is not really needed. HIDs are usually bright enough to be your Highs as well as your lows. However if you are like me then you will probably want to go trifold - Lows, Highs and Fogs.
A good kit will have interchangable bulbs for it's own kit meaning if you decide to go with a different temperature you can just buy a new bulb (which comes with a connector for the original ballast). I wouldn't worry too much about plug and play, especially if you get HIDs from someone that requests and specifies what bulbs you have. This is a good indication that the kit will plug right in and the bulb will work with the housing. Sometimes the back of the headlight housing will have to be modified however.
There are plenty of online places to pick up HIDs and some are straight from the manufacturer. I would highly suggest looking at and talking to some of our site sponsors. I haven't heard of site sponsors on any forums that disregard forum members. It may be possible that they don't have an item in stock but they may have an easier time getting a hold of the product for you and sending it out to you.

6500K is the absolute limit for heterosexuality.
I would stay at 6000K or lower just to be safe.
