i bought a 99 gt w/62k on it and it runs real great and i love it except for one really puzzling problem. if i'm going from about 20-45 or 50 (seems to be about the range) it feels like the car is jerking a little or surging might be a better word. whats real strange is that if i turn on cruise control then its as smooth as can be. anybody got any ideas as to what it could be? car is mostly stock except for k&n drop in filter and flowmaster mufflers
edit:also lowered with eibach springs

I would start by doing a few little up keep things. Clean the mas air meter with ON contact NO residue electronic cleaner that you can pick up from autozone, reset the battery by leaving the negative terminal off a bit, change the fuel filter, check the rear end fluid.
See if it runs ok after this, is it a problem that happends when you are accelerating or just while you are in this MPH range, if its anytime in this MPH range it may be a wheel/tire balance/warped issue.

cleaned the air meter, left the neg terminal off for a good bit, bought a fuel filter but still have to swap it in and check the rear end fluid but no good yet. from the way it feels i dont think theres anyways it could be a wheel issue, really feels like something throttle related

Sounds like it could be your spark plugs

see if you have any codes, i think auto zone still does code checks
if they say that they can test it without the engine light on, tell them they are full of it, the EEC system stores codes also

do you hear any sputtering in the exhaust when the car is jerking? if not, it's most likely a transmission problem. do you know if the previous owners ever replaced the trans fluid? i'm wondering if the clutches or fluid is bad.

if the surging is like a pattern (best way I can put if for now), I would say either plugs or coil pack.

just getting a used car you never know how it was kept... so I would do everything to it thats needed just to be safe from changing plugs to rear end fluid so you have peice of mind.

There is a sensor in the throttle body TPS, throttle position sensor that I believe might cause that sorta problems if it went bad....

Another thing that can cause problems in throttle bodies is carbon build up on the inside of the throttle plate, what to do?::: get a can of spray carb cleaner and an old worn out toothbrush, spray and scrub the inside of the throttle plates til they are as clean as you can get them, this might help a bit too.

heh no im still here, gettin ready to head back to school tomorrow so i've been trying to get all my stuff done and havent had time to check my post lately, thanks for all the help too guys, i hate the thought of just dropping my car off at some random garage to let them try and find a problem that i havent even a guess as to the origin of. I'm gonna try changing the spark plugs out and change my fuel filter and i guess clean throttle body
