Ok, I've read-up on it a little, but just wtf good it is? I'm getting that it gives better, smoother shifts...... but what else? Does it eliminate having such a long, deep push of the peddle? How much of a pain is it to install, and adjust? IS IT WORTH IT?

well a new clutch cable will make for smoother better shifts if yours is worn out but not just in itself~ just because the one you had would be worn out.
If you put in a quadrant you lose the stock adjustment ability fyi~ so a firewall adjusted is a must to take up the slack.
You want a half inch of pushing in the clutch from the top before the rpms slip then that or a touch more is what you want any less then the clutch is adjsuted to tight and you may have clutch issues with it slipping.
Go 55 down the highway hold the gas with one foot steady ease in the clutch and if it goes .5 inches or a touch more your good
This will make the clutch petal VERY high, actually as high as it can go since it hits the bump stop FYI.

So essentially, I would have MORE clutch pedal....meaning I would have farther to hit the clutch bump-stop? Yet, if my old cable is a lil worn, it would be worth it, for smoother shifts?

if your cable is 100% stock and never replaced you should notice a little difference in going with a new cable (you can just buy an OEM ford one).
You should notice your clutch petal has a flop in it (not firm and you can lift up under the bottom of it). In order to adjust it the way I said it needs to be you have to take all the slack out of it due to the cable being how long it is.
You can have the stock quadrant do this for you and it MAY hold. Mine has for 3 years, if you shift very hard or touch the underside of the clutch petal and raise it up it will unadjust.
Crawl under the drivers side dash upside down and push the clutch petal i with one hand and hold the quadrant with the other hand. Ease out on the clutch petal while keeping pressure on the clutch petal as the clutch nears its all the way out level you will hear a noticeable click. Thats it taking up slack, do like 2 clicks and see how it feels. Test to make sure you didnt take up to much slick as I mentioned above.
this is kind also how you readjust the quadrant if you replace the clutch cable (which is quite easy)
Feel free to PM me for details on all of that if needed.

I put an aftermarket quadrant and firewall adjuster on my cobra after installing a new clutch. It makes it a million times easier to drive and also let's me adjust the release where I want.
I have it adjusted about 1.5 inches in for total disengagement for normal driving and pull it out a bit further for racing so all I have to do is lightly tap the clutch. It did take me 2 quadrants to get the feel I want, ended up with a three hook setup from a member on here.

Thanks guys! I think I'm starting to understand a little better now. Adjusting the clutch cable, adjusts the point at which the clutch will engage/disengage........NOT the pedal travel? So, if adjusted correctly, I would not have to push the pedal all the way to the pedal stop, just the ??" to get it to engage?
Ok, here's another question then. To install and new cable, adjuster, etc, do I have to actually "go into" the clutch? Or does it hook-up externally on the tranny? I'm just wondering, because the clutch was replaced...umm....I think he said last year. So if it does, I may just wait until I need a new clutch. That, or just grind the shit out of it, just to convince the ol' lady that "I gotta get a new clutch" hahaha

Nevermind about the install. I Just read one of AM's tech articles about installing the cable.

yea, when I first got my car the petal had to be pushed to the floor to shift... i took up the slack in it and thus raised the petal, 100x easier to drive now

ok, I tried getting under the dash. I DID happen to get ONE click out of it. Maybe I was doing something wrong, because of the way I was wedged under the dash..hahah. I'll see how that works, til it's a lil warmer to be outside..brrr. I did notice that the "stop" on the quadrant was 1/4 to 3/8" from the bracket, so maybe it's time to just replace the damned cable?

Oh wow! oh wow! I took the butt-end of a hammer, and got one more click on the clutch adjuster. So far, no more 1-2 lockouts on a hot shift!! And the clutch engages/disengages at about 1/2 pedal.....no more having to bury it in the firewall, just to end-up getting a lockout. Now I can slide my seat the rest of the way back, and be more comfy. I MIGHT get out there in the morning, and cut off the release plate, so I don't have it losening up on til, until I can get a new quadrant and firewall adjuster.

Yea! I tried it the other day before I went to work, but at the time I only got one click. I never even thought to try a hammer...lol. One more click today worked wonders.
