1964 to 1966 are convertible softtops reliable

I currently rent out a 1966 Fastback in the UK 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback For Hire The Open Road Classic American Car Hire Warwickshire The Cotswolds The Midlands and am thinking of replacing the car with another early (64 to 66) one.

I have never been keen on the coupe so it will either be another Fastback or a Convertible.

Are the automatic soft tops on these cars reliable? If not what sort of things go wrong? Are parts available?

As we are in England and it rains a lot, I cannot afford to have a car out on hire and find the soft top stops working - particularly in the down position.

All thoughts and experience gratefully received.

I know if it stops working there really isnt a way to get it up unless you disconnect the motor and just raise it up manually~

Thanks. Is there a standard way disconnecting the motor and raising it? I assume Ford have built something into the system to allow this? Or am I expecting too much of Ford from the 1960s?

hmm I have no idea on those or even mind. I know on mine I have to remove the back seat (not a big deal just takes a bit) to gain access to the motor. It probably just bolts up to the top and can be unconnected easily enough.

It may be in the trunk area on those years. Ive tried searching on information but nothing has came up.
