my laptop is all wired up for wireless... but I think I need a wireless card... what's a good kind to get? The University of Iowa has a wireless campus, I believe.... so this could come in handy.
Will this work?
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-LAPTOP-WIREL...QQcmdZViewItem
if it helps... I have an HP laptop... and is up-to-date with modern stuff... only 2 years old, and was top of the line then, so it's good.

Dont get that that is one shitty wireless card right there.
You want atleast a 802.11g card
I would pay for a good one because you will get a shitty quality if the source isnt right next to you with a cheap card.

Werd,
But check the total price on that ebay link with shipping and if it isnt much more or the same as the newegg one buy it from newegg because of a much better warranty and much faster shipping.

What is your main use going to be?
On campus network or Internet browsing.
Lan access would dictate the fastest available card 802.11g
Mostly Internet 802.11b or above will do.
Just stick with a name brand. As with everything you get what you pay for.

if you dont buy the good stuff you may regret it... going cheaper may seem better but may bit you in the butt later on... so think about it.

That is goofy as hell G is not even universal beccause no technology allows for 53 meg wireless transfer at the consumer level. This is from a person who developed G technology currently wireless will run at 2-5 meg tops. And until the ISP's update their techology it wont happen
