I started by polishing the CAI tube, a few days ago. I'm still trying to decide if I want to leave it like it is, try sanding and repolishing (yea...sounds scary to me), or painting it. If i paint it, I'll probably leave the majority of it chrome, and run blue flames up it.

This morning, I installed the smurf tube, but only had one package, so I still need more. And need to find a pack with a larger tube. I'll also replace the crappy white cable ties with my blue ones, once I go get them out of storage.

Then, off comes the strut tower brace. With a good sanding, and primer coat, I was till scared to death of running the paint. This being my first time spraying anything that really needs to look good, I'm very pleased with it, for the most part. I was able to keep from running it, until I got in a hurry with the clear-coat, because it was starting to get dark and cold. I wasn't real sure that the "dark ford blue" would mix well under the hood, but it's not too bad. I think it makes everything else "pop" a little more. I'm thinking the hood prop, mass air sensor, and MAYBE the air intake plenum will be next.

maybe the power cord for you subs could be a shiny blue instead of red... otherwise it looks good

Yea.... I DID think about that. That's the only one I could find last weekend, and didn't even think about the color. I'll replace it one day, when I feel like fighting another one all the way to the trunk. Or I may just smurf tube the f'er.

i was just kidding, it looks good, next time you do a spark plug wire change i would see if you can get them in blue though. do the 96's use the coil on plug? or was that used a bit later?

Yea, I've thought about going with the blue plug wires.....just waiting til I NEED them...lol. Think I'm gonna get a set of motoblue Radiator hoses too. I'm not 100% sure about the coils yet. I've never bothered to check, but I THINK these are the coil packs in the pic below.


Ok, I just checked AM......circled below are the coil packs. So the answer to your question is NO. I'm glad too! When I had my 03 Supercrew, my gas mileage dropped to complete shit within about a week. I didn't feel like f'ing with it, so I took it to a shop, 8 plugs, 8 coils, and $700 later, my mileage was back to normal. LOL...I think I got fucked.

i'm sure i like the coil on plug idea, as far as i know my car has one coil in it and it runs fine, granted i don't think it has as much hp as the engines with the coil on plugs, but i think that is because of design and not the actual coil on plug.

one thing i was thinking on recommending (well not really telling you that you should get it, but to just show other things available) was a clear lighted coolant hose. dunno if you have seen them, but a while ago on this site someone posted a link to a site that sold "glass coolant hoses" and you could than get LED options. jut thought one with blue LEDs would make your day

Holy shit! That killer glass is awesome! But how durable is it? lol
I've been looking at the PI head and manifold swap.....but just don't have the $$$ to do it right now. And for that, I'd have to have someone do it. I've NEVER been into an engine that far. lol Besides, I seriously lack the patience required for that one. Then ANOTHER downside, is convincing the wifey WHY I need the swap...lol... " you don't need more power"...."you don't need to be racing it" yada yada yada. But, I've still been researching it. Thinking I might go with typhoon heads and mani. When I finally can get em, I'll be painting the intake manifold, and either finding a set of valve covers to paint before the swap, or just buy a nice looking set of brushed ones. There's also ALOT of other things I want to do before I spend that much in one lump sum. MGW shifter, halo projectors, and lowering are at the top of the list.

instead of trying to explain why you need "performance" parts maybe they are really "durability" parts that will last you a lot longer since yours "are about to fail anyway" and you might as well replace them while the car is still running

nice, I replace parts that dont do much when the OEM ones are worn out~ otherwise its not worth it

Preventative Maintenance is the word you want to use

One of these days (well probably in 6 months now) I'm going to take out my CAI and give it a nice good polish, clean the air filter and such.

That's how I'm gonna get away with a firewall adjuster an quadrant...lol....she knows about the 1-2 lockouts, and reverse lockouts I've been getting...hehe....I adjusted it out already, but what she don't know, wont hurt me

Yea....it IS alot of blue, but it damned sure needs something other than the stock black. Instead of spending 200+ on a chrome tower brace, I can get a MGW shifter...lol. I ALMOST went with red smurf tube and paint.....but then,, ummm..noooooooooo
Now I've noticed that the heatshield on the bottom of the hood is rubbing on the tower brace...grrrrrrrrrr
