Hello all;
Site is looking great Brent!!. This is Jorge from a looong time ago..lol. I had to make a new user name...
Anyways, so my transmission is Kaput...Since I am going to spend the money for someone to get up in there anyway, do you guys have any suggestions on what I can do to make it worth while?, gears, etc...I don't know what to do, shuld I take it to a shop and have them rebuild my tranny? should I buy one online and have it installed? or should I just have the shop put in a rebuilt transmission of their own and I would provide them with any add ons? I'm at a loss here. but sure thing the transmission is bye bye..so go ahead do what u do my friends...
thanks

My issues with getting it rebuilt is ... will it be a good job. Ive seen to many people burned by shops that rebuild them only to install them and they do not work correctly... the shop says its your fault for "racing it" regardless and you are back to square one.
Thats why my personal opinion is to buy new from some company and then just install it. But... its up to you if you wish to risk it to a re builder. It could be good or it could not last a day... or just a month its a risk you have to take.

A guy here on Long Island (south east New York) a guy specializes on trading, buying, selling and restoring T5 transmissions.
A local is also trying to sell a 3650 out of an low mileage '02.
Go with a new clutch if you want, especially if it's older or starting to get worn out or will need to be replaced soon.
Rear end gears are separate so you don't have to get them done at the same time (unless you want to).

I think Jasper offers transmissions at a good price.

Try Checkers or Autozone, they use Everdrive, which are used, but you get a 3 year unlimited mile warranty and if it is installed by an ASE mech, you get a year labor warranty also. About $1,100 for a 470rw (Auto)
